right after entering my credit card information and stuff, i clicked "convert to quote" instead of "order". does that mean i've ordered already, or do i still need to convert my quote into an order?
if i convert my quote into an order, is it possible i get double charged?
in other words, is "convert my quote" equivalent to an order already, and was it redundant to convert that quote into an order?

you shouldn't have entered in your credit card information...

No, what he did was fine, its what you are supposed to do to create a quote. To exhortjump, what you did was correct. You created a quote which should have been emailed to you. Converting to a quote did not place an order. So don't worry. Now with this quote you have 30 days to create it into an order and be charged. If you don't want to create an order from this quote, you don't have to. Just ignore the quote and you won't be charged.
If you have any questions about this, please ask. I have done this a million times.

thanks so much! i'm relieved. i was so worried that the "convert to quote" thing went through as an order, because i did end up converting the quote to an order after i got that email. so i was worried that it double ordered the same item. hey, you know what? i recognize you from another of the threads i made. you were the one who suggested the R series to me, remember?
i haven't forgotten that!

You are welcome my friend. So what config did you end up ordering? -
Hi, new here & wondering if this quote is good for 30 days even if it involves pricing that ends soon (such as pricing on Black Friday items). Would creating a quote hold the price for 30 days?
Many thanks. -
Yes creating a quote makes that price good for a potential order for 30days.
Firesnake: I know what op did was fine, but you don't need to enter in your CC info to make a quote (or at least whenever I did it, you did not have to). I don't just like putting in my CC to forms randomly if I don't need to

Thanks, jaredy. I'm trying to decide on a new laptop & think I may need a few days to finally nail it down. I'm torn between an outlet item (t61) & a new t500. I have an older t30 that has been a rock, but is starting to show its age.

T500 ftw

Why not? What could go wrong?
I see your point, but as I remember when I created my quotes, I had to. In any event what can be said is to divulge the least amount of information so that the edits allow you to make your quote. -

Depends on your needs. Do you need the latest, greatest and a very powerful setup, if so go for the new Thinkpads. If you are just using it to type documents and surf the web, go for the T61 and shop for a great price. -
I think the T61 is pretty well setup. I don't really need all the latest geegaws, either. Maybe toss on some more memory later?

It's about $300 less than the T500 I am looking at.
I've read that sometimes what they sell on the outlet is not what you get, though. -

Looks good to me if you don't game. If you get your machine from the outlet make sure to double check the specs to see if you are getting what you expect. DDR2 laptop memory is dirt cheap right now. I think I saw 4Gb for something like $15 dollars recently. Upgrading the memory is a piece of cake too. Basically save your money and get what you need. No need to spend for stuff you aren't going to use. -
Also take a screenshot of the specs as lenovo doesn't really keep track of outlet specs and it might differ when you get the unit.
