Hello,
I am interested in a configuration at lenovo.com and would like to convert it into a quote.
Do I have to buy it?
Do I have any financial obligation on the quote?
How long does a quote stay effective usually?
Cheers!

No obligation to you - Lenovo must honor the quote for 30 days.

"Must" is highly variable on their part. If they even find a small part code variation between the quoted model and the currently available parts (and therefore the current seemingly equivalent configuration), they will tell you that they cannot honor the quote.
But no, there is no obligation until you click through the final confirmation page. -
I recently received a $37 refund on my T500 due to the Price Protection.
7 days after I ordered the computer the price dropped.
After I completed the quote with the new/lower price, I called Customer Service and gave them the quote number. About 1 week later I received an email confirming I would receive the credit. About 3 days later the credit appeared on my credit card.
Converting an order into a quote has any financial obligations?
