    Customs Check?

    I ordered my T61 on 7/14 (with an ESD of 8/2) it shipped on 7/24 and is scheduled for delivery on 7/30. Well today I check on UPS and it says that it has been delayed for a customs check. Is this normal? Will it really delay it that much?

    yea they open your computer box up then your computer to ensure all the parts installed meet the requirements of the FCC and other governmental agencies. Usually they beat up your laptop when it is being checked by customs and many people receive laptops w/ scratches and dents. i hope yours fairs well

    Don't worry. He was probably making a lame attempt at humor. The customs is merely paperwork and shouldn't delay you for more than an extra day or two at worst. Most of the time, the shipment clears the customs within a single business day.

    Thanks guys. I guess I'm just freaking out a little. I am moving in 7 days for law school and I NEED my laptop to get here.

    I guess I worried for nothing. My T61 just arrived. 3 days earlier then UPS said, even with customs. :)
