Looks pretty good, you might wanna consider a faster/larger hard disk.

Your configuration is almost like mine.
I did not opt for DVD DL because I have a good one in my desktop. I upgraded Wi-Fi to Thinkpad 11N (MIMO) because the built-in antennae could not be changed later. Finally I got 4-year Protection and Depot Repair as insurance policy. I won't be worried about any accidental damage for the next 4 years.

I paid more than you did because the Flexview screen cost extra $315 and 4-year protection $379.

    I will consider that.

Also question..Is the intel wireless card better than the thinkpad one? And can I upgrade to a wireless abgn card instead of just abg?

    Hello hdave,
I try to get an online quote for a Thinkpad T60 & T60p today on lenovo.com but don't see that lenovo offers anymore of the 128MB X1400.
when did you order yours, may I ask?
    Thanks

I have not ordered it yet. most likely going to order it tomorrow during work cuz then i'll have time to talk to lenovo over the phone.

you need to choose the SXGA screen in order to see the x1400 for the t60, not sure about the t60p (i think that comes with a 256mb card)

More people consider the Thinkpad card better than the Intel one at least in this forum. You can upgrade your card to 11n by calling the sales people. If you look at the right upper corner on the T60 header page, you will see a statement that MIMO card is sort of the standard one.

Some sales people do not know if you can upgrade to 11n. You have to explain to them that a lot of people have already done that.

As far as the hard drive is concerned, you can add another drive later since there is room for it. I have found some cheaper 72rpm drives at other stores.

Does the n card have 3 antennas or something? Thinkpads back to at least T30 with integrated WiFi antennas have had two already.

If they do, and I change my order to get the extra antenna, I'd have 6 different antennas in my laptop. (3 for WiFi, 2 for WWAN and 1 for BT) :p Speaking of BT, I've looked at the repair guide, but it's not clear on where the BT antenna is on the T60. Does anyone know where it's located? On the T30, it was directly above the PC Card slots.

I just ordered a T60 today. My salesperson said the N wireless is no longer available? Anyone else aware of this? Or did they make a mistake?

I don't know if it's no longer available, but what I do know is that N is not yet finalized and quite frankly I wouldn't get an N card right now because it's possible that you'll get one and not be able to use it.

I called lenovo again today, and was able to get the 802.11n wireless. I guess it depends on who you talk to.
