I got my new x61s in a few days ago, and so far it's been great. The lcd, however, concerns me. After reading about this laptop in great depth, I expected a sort of sub-par lcd, and I don't mean in terms of physical size or resolution, both of which I am absolutely fine with. Rather, I'm referring to the viewing angle limitations and the not-great colors, all of which was accurate.

However, what I didn't expect was that there are sometimes faint diagonal lines on various parts of the lcd, such as on the green xp start button, which sort of give the button a textured appearance. These lines are most visible when either my eye or the laptop is in motion, and they're really distracting. Is this normal for all of these screens, or is mine just messed up? Could it be related to refresh rate, or is it something else? I have the latest graphics card drivers. On a side note, what is the quality of the vga out on this laptop? I'm really counting on it being good. Thanks!

It sounds odd with the diagonal lines. These are definitely not present on my X61.

I have experienced a X61s with the ultralight display as well and I did not notice anything either. I am quite picky when it comes to abnormalities, so I am sure I would notice.

The VGA output is fine. Crisp and clear. You may want to calibrate colors/contrast depending on the external monitor, but this applies to all computers.
