I recently bought a G530-444635u laptop. Do I need to register it for the manufacturer's warranty? I can't seem to find the link, so I'm thinking I don't need to but I'm not sure.

It can't hurt. Plus if there's any recall they'd know how to get in touch with you.

I bought my X40 from the school computer store at my university.
I didn't realize this at the time but Lenovo's police was, if you register your warranty starts from the day of purchase, if you don't register your warranty starts from the date of manufacture.

If you buy from Lenovo.com it might not be necessary to register. You could phone Lenovo and ask or look up your warranty info on their website to make sure your warranty covers you for the correct period of time.
