So I made the mistake of ordering the Yoga 2 directly from Lenovo (never ordered from them, didn't realize the terrible reputation they have for customer service, shipping, etc)... since I ordered it on 10/16 it's been cancelled (miscommunication with Amazon payments), reopened, "Released to Manufacturing", and had the arrival date creep from 10/26 to 11/1 to 11/6 to 11/21. Utterly ridiculous.
Is there any chance whatsoever that it will come earlier than that? Does anyone know if there's any way to cancel the order without being charged a restocking fee so I can just get it from Best Buy?

I generally like their customer service in my experience. According to the agent I just finished talking with (over the exact same thing) you can cancel without paying a restocking fee up until it has shipped. Also they offered me $100 in accessories as an apology for the delay. I plan to think it over for a bit before making a decision to cancel or not.

Kirnstal- that's interesting, the people I've spoken with so far (about the Amazon issue above) haven't been great, but maybe I'll call them again about this latest shipment pushback and hopefully have an experience similar to yours. It looks like BB is out of stock across the state so I'm stuck waiting regardless, but I may as well voice my displeasure and try to get some sort of compensation... -
I learned in my accounting class they use a hybrid JIT system, so it is difficult to speed up shipping and keep lower prices.

Lenovo typically takes 2 week to have your order at your door due to the way the operate. Once your order is placed, it is sent to manufacturing and put in a queue. It can take about a week for them to finish building your system and it will take another week for the laptop to clear custom and get delivered to your house. Lenovo uses an assemble to order strategy which allows them to offer great customizations of their product but leaves them with zero inventory. However, in your case, it is the Yoga 2 Pro which can't be customized so it should arrive quicker.
You can cancel your order if it hasn't shipped most of the time. -
As for Amazon payments etc...do yourself a favour, guys and gals, order with a credit card directly. I've done this many a times over the past several years and never had a problem.
Obviously, YMMV.
Happy shopping..
Do Lenovo Shipping times ever improve?
