I was wondering if it's possible to use fingerprint scan as the only means of logging in on the computer? As I see it, the only option at the moment is using a account password, but I'd prefer if it were just the former - with no password.

Is there a way to do it?

If at some point your fingerprint reader stopped working, you'd be hosed.

I still wonder why anyone would "secure" his laptop with a mark he has spread all over the machine.
In my opinion fingerprint readers are just the modern way of sticking Post-its with the password on the screen.

Hahah...not quite that. You'd have to take the fingerprint and then place it on something that you could SLIDE across the reader. The ones that you just place your finger on are less secure though for sure (not on laptops...).

to me its more of a convenience factor, for example sometimes i get a call in the middle of the night and i have to reach for my laptop to check something, (its always on) bringing it out of standby with a fingerprint swipe is more convenient..... and also to stop pesky friends/co workers messing with my laptop as a practical joke when im not at it. lol....
