    Has anyone ever used one of these? Sounds pretty freakin cool, I can put an SSD into my original harddrive space and put the stock one into the caddy!

    Exactly. Consider this one, for example. And you can use the optical bay externally with this adapter.

    (Alternatively, you could install a mSATA SSD in the PCIe slot and have two storage drives, one in the primary bay and one in the UltraBay, or have one storage drive in the primary bay while keeping the optical drive.)

    Hmm... should have saw this before buying a Samsung external DVD burner for a few dollars more. :/

    Anyway, on topic, I have one of their (NewModeUS) HDD adapters and it works great. Most Ultrabay caddies are 9.5mm tall, whereas theirs is a full 12.7mm tall.
