    has anyone tried this? The i7 620 or 640 dual core can only take 4gb modules while I know the 720qm can take 8gb modules. Thanks

    All X series machines have soldered - not socketed - CPUs so you'd need a reballing station to perform such a swap.

    I doubt that the BIOS would support it, though...

    Isn't the x201 somewhat known for overheating? My GF's X201 often has the fan running so fast it sounds like it could take off

    my x61t with 1400x1050 screen is one of my favorite machines, it's a bit heavy for a 12.1 laptop. One day I'd like to transfer this screen to my x61s. If it took 16gb of ram I'd me set.

    If you're running applications that *really* require 16GB of RAM, a LV C2D CPU as seen in X61s/T would present a serious bottleneck.
