I have a configured T400 saved from 6/7/09 with the price of $859.36, when I open the cart I get a price of $900.36. I have read that if you have a lower price within 30 days of a purchase they will mark it down for you.
How would I go about keeping this price?
Thanks.
By the way, the laptop is:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor P8700 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2)
Genuine Windows Vista Business 64
14.1 WXGA TFT, w/ LED Backlight

2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)

No Bluetooth
Intel WiFi Link 5100 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology

and I will be adding one of these:

Any other recommendations.

You have to save the price as a quote. Saving it in the cart does nothing.
-
How do you save the price as a quote?
EDIT: Did not realize you have to go all the way to checkout to save it as a quote. Damn. -

Yep, you must save it as a quote, that's what I did, I went back a few days later and the price had gone up so I used my quote and got the nicely discounted price. -
Well I unfortunately did not get the price of $859 and now it is $963 total since I was unaware how to properly save the quote. I now saved this quote so at least it will not go up from there.. oh well hopefully it will go back down in the next week or so.

Wait till you get the free Windows 7 upgrade? I got my Thinkpad for $673 with a LED backlight and DVD Burner.
Specs are in my sig. -
Yes, my plans are to wait until I would qualify for the Windows 7 upgrade, which should be within the next 2 weeks.
Nice configuration for the price though! -

Nice price, I paid $696 shipped for mine with LED back but no DVD burner, but IMHO, I don't really need the DVD burner (Got one in my desktop) but it's always nice to have.
I ordered on 6/17, I couldn't wait for the free upgrade program, I'm sure it won't cost much to buy the upgrade addition though. -

Yea, I am in no rush though, do not need the laptop until the end of August anyway so might as well wait for the upgrade program. I may even change the specs of mine a tad between now and then. Contemplating whether or not I should keep the P8700, or go with the base processor as well as how important the discrete graphics really are to me. Anyone have feedback on the integrated? I want to still be able to mess around on CS3 as well as watch some movies..but do not really plan on much game play.

The P8400 should be more than enough and you don't need the dedicated graphics to mess around in photoshop or watch movies.
-
Yeah, get the P8400, you wont get that significant of a performance increase by getting a P8700. (In terms of cost/benefit)
If you don't play games the 4500MHD is a fine option. Come to think of it there really wasn't any reason for me to get my Radeon 3470, I tested the 4500 MHD on CS:Source and I can run it on max settings just fine. I could have saved about forty bucks off my purchase price, but the switchable graphics was too cool not to have. :x -
Originally, I figured I want this laptop to last me 3-4 years so might as well upgrade every aspect of the system. When I now look at it, the upgraded GPU would not really be of much use to me and if the P8400 and the P8700 would not show me a significant performance increase than there really isn't any reason to upgrade to it.
-
The Radeon 3470 really isn't that powerful of a graphics card anyway. I'd save the gaming for a desktop rig if you have one.
-
So now I am looking at under $775 just by changing the P8700 to the P8400 and switching from discrete to integrated graphics, and as far as most benchmarks note, there will not be a significant performance difference.
-
I think you can pay the price of a saved cart, if it's actually a saved cart, by clicking on it and then choosing open cart.
-
That is exactly what I did and it changed the price on me. No worries after this thread I will most likely be downgrading my processor as well as GPU.
Does anyone think this build can hold up for 3-4 years minimum? -
Depends on what you use it for?
-
Will be for college. Internet browsing, word processing, and maybe some business software.
Nothing too far fetched. -
Yeah, you'll be fine. I spent more time playing XBOX with my dormmates than gaming on my PC.
-
Haha, thank you for all your help again.

Not bad.. -
Quick question:
How do I make the recovery disks if I am not purchasing the DVD Burner? Can the files be put on a flash drive and transferred to a computer that can burn them or no? -
No, they can't, they have to be burned from the original machine. You can burn them all to CDs, if you don't have a DVD burner, but it'll be a stack of CDs.
It kinda sucks that the LED Backlight is now a "payable" upgrade. It used to be free before.
-
Ah did not take the time to realize I still have a CD burner, just not the DVD burner. I know I was kind of upset seeing the LED backlight was now $40 because in my original saved cart it was free.
-
You could also go through the Lenovo CPP program, and then use the additional 5% off. That's cheaper yet than the 15% USP48HOURSALE discount. I compared with the T400 I had already ordered, and using the CPP program, I saved $60-80 over the 15% discount.
-
My newest configuration posted above is through the CPP (Corporate Perks Program), but how do I get an additional 5% on that?
