I received my order today. Returning it ASAP for a replacement and hopefully without having to pay restocking fees.

There is one big reason why I am returning this:

You know the four plastic knobs that keeps the laptop steady and raises it a bit? Well, one of the plastic knobs (bottom right) was built a little too high. Therefore, whenever i rest my palms on the palmrest area, the laptop slants a little to the right.

Other minor reasons include imperfect cover above the Dolby Digital logo (the metal or whatever part juts out a little, like an unbent side of metal, obviously poor worksmanship).

Right hinge area has something that looks like frozen glue or paint, thereby making that particular surface rocky instead of smooth, as if someone poured acid on it. Though it is hidden from view, i am annoyed by it.

This is my first time returning a laptop (and my first laptop at that). I am really mad as i was hoping to use this for class tomorrow! Please help me! Since this is a manufacturing flaw on their end, i don't have to pay restocking fees, right? Please help me!

    Thanks!

With the plastic knobs, why not get a very smooth sand paper and sand it down to size? Seems like a pretty simple issue to fix.

Have you tried on different flat surfaces to confirm? Sometimes it can be the table itself being not perfectly flat.

it can be fixed, then it would look weird, like squared off instead of sharp? Plus, I paid 1000USD for this. I am not rich, so to me, this is a pretty steep. How can they treat customers with such poor workmanship in their products. I will be really mad if they do charge me restocking fees.

stewie: yes, i've tried it on every surface that i have in my home and I even compared it with the other laptops (3 others) which all are stable!!

please help! (on return issue-i'm quite new at this! thanks!)

    Why??

He bought a brand new laptop for 1k. He should EXPECT it to have NO deformities..

If it was refurb/other I would understand but on a brand new one? Nope! get a replacement stat!

my thoughts exactly, but the idea of maybe having to pay for restocking fees is driving me nuts! I called and waited for half an hour on the phone, then i finally get the message that they were closing for the day. Now i have to wait and call them tomorrow. Such a long wait (to ship back and wait for new shipment), i wanted to use my laptop for this semester too :/.

i think they only charge restocking fees if you just send it back and say you don't want it. this is more of a repair/replacement issue, which i would assume is covered under the warranty.

Don't worry man. I'm sure they will exchange it for a new one. Be prepared to let the know whats wrong and that its clearly substandard built quality that has ruined your experience. Tell them that you are willing to give them another chance and that they should ship you another one FREE of defects. (Make it sound like you're doing them a favor) Also ask for a full refund if you don't wnat the laptop anymore (although I wud suggest asking them to ship another unit for you. That way they don't loose a customer and you don't get stuck with a 1K laptop u don't like). Hope this helps. No worries, you don't like it cos of the defects, not cos you don't have a reason. Hence you shouldn't be charged a restocking fee.

You did the right thing man. You can ask for a new piece to be built and sent out to you if you're willing to give them another chance. I'm in a bit of a pickle myself with Lenovo and hoping they'll sort out the issue.

Contact Lenovo right away then, I'm sure they will either replace it for you or get you the new parts. My last experience with the Lenovo service was great, even though it took them some time to come up with a decision, but in the end it all went well.

Return department didn't help. They said they'd charge the 15%restocking fees. My only other option was to send it to the tech depo and have them fix it which will take nearly 2 weeks (which will be doing, of course). I am never going to buy a lenovo, ever again.

Thats really unfortunate and I am truly sorry to hear it. Might I suggest calling back the Return department and hopefully speaking with someone else, explaining to them that the laptop has arrived with deformities and you want a replacement! Also, hopefully they will be more sympathetic... :(

Sending it in to have the parts replaced will probably be faster than returning the notebook completely and have them resend you another one, although I understand how you feel though. Anyway, hope everything will be fixed when they return it to you.

I've called on 4 different occasions. Each time they sent me to a different phone number then from that different number to tech support.

but yeah stewie: i think so too. but i hope they replace the whole case.
