Other than gaming how big an issue is an integrated Intel GMA 950 Video card in a Thinkpad. Trying to decide if I should spend the extra $200 for a dedicated video card.

For a college student. No games. Internet and Microsoft Office applications.

Look at that thread. I am using the older GMA900 with a Celeron M 1.5. It is AMAZING with video, including HD stuff. Games are out of the question though. -
NO DVI output even with a docking station. So choose wisely if you plan to use a LCD in the future.

DVI isn't really a concern unless you are using a higher resolution on a larger screen. Anything in the 17" range and smaller is still fine for VGA.

Gaming is not out of the question on the GMA950. It really depends on the game and what resolution/details you pick. But since you are not gaming anyways, I think it will be just fine.

wow looked great on GMA 900

The Intel GMA 950 is fine for your needs. As bman22 wrote, you can even play games, although not the latest 3D shooters. One advantage of an integrated video card is that the notebook usually runs cooler and you get longer battery life.
