Good day all,
Well, I was starting to type something on my T61 (I'm using Internet Explorer as a browser), and all of a sudden, whatever I accidently hit, made my top task bar (where you type in the www field, all of my favorites, tool bar, etc.), and my Windows task bar on the bottom suddenly vanished. They now only appear when I scroll over it with my mouse, they will "slide down".
Any idea on how to fix this ? This is a real PITA, that I don't know what button I hit on the keyboard to make it do this . . .
Thanks in advance !!

Well, I figured it out ! What I did was, while in IE, I accidentally hit "F11". Apparently this makes the entire browser go "full size", and it hides the top tool bar, web , etc. and also makes the bottom task bar hide as well.
To fix this you can do one of two things,
1. Press F11 again, or
2. Go into "tools" on the top of the IE browser, and un-click "full screen".
Just in case this happens to someone else out there

Man! When I read the title of the post I thought there was a Mission Impossible-like self destruction button on ThinkPads!!!

Yep, F11 is the full screen key for several (all?) browsers! Particularly useful on netbooks with limited screen real estate
-
I dont like using F11 on screens with sufficient resolution, I use it only on my EEE 701 netbook, otherwise it cripples browsing experience for me since I like to see address bar without howering above it+typing web page address with F11 enabled actually doesnt show you what your are typing unless you place mouse pointer into slide zone.

hence why i like chrome browser.
-
For the F11??? Not because it's super-light and fast?

X2. That was the first time I accidentally hit F11, and I did NOT like that user experience AT ALL. Without seeing my address bar on the top, google toolbar, favorites in the favorites menu, etc. it really threw me off. True, it makes viewing the web page take up the entire screen, but it also sacrifices everything that matters (true, all you have to do is scroll your mouse and it will drop down, but I like just looking up and seeing all the info. there).
All in all, something that should not exist IMO lol -
not for the F11, but because it doesn't have all the fancy tabs and other resource hogging stuffs.
-
I was expecting to hear something like that!

I just like FF the most, while Chrome is supposedly the most lightweight, i dont quite like its user interface and settings menu.
I find FF easier to deal with when something goes wrong or I need some addons installed, tho I know Chrome has them now too.
Now IE is IMO total POS

I think you’re a little bit over-exaggerating here… I use IE for quite some time now (currently IE8; I never stuck with FF, but instead replaced it for Chrome when it came out) and I find IE is the most compatible in terms of websites (at least the ones I visit). Most websites, anyway, are designed primarily for IE; and not many have been designed with cross-browser compatability in mind. I thus still believe IE is the best choice for business users. Frankly, I’ve never had any *serious* problems that would make me turn IE down. Of course I try to keep it light, with few if any add-ons. And IE9 should be a major improvement (even though I cannot try the beta since I currently run XP in all my machines).

IE is SLOW, at least on every single computer I have used it on.
Thats enough for me to stay away from it. -
I have yet to try a browser that navigates Facebook faster than IE8. Also, it's quite speedy in Gmail, which is why I use IE8 for those two sites, and Opera for the rest.

IE8 is also better for hotmail (well probably that is a given).... but sometimes i just need to browse some simple websites with lots of tabs open, chrome is better than IE and FF in that respect.
I pressed a button, now everythings crazy lol
