How Do U guys Feel about Lenovo/IBM....
THis might help new buyers.
-
i personally don't regret my purchase. I love it a lot!
-
Wish my Z60T was duo core + had dedicated graphics... other than that... I'm glad it finally came.
-
One tiny regret.
Although it wouldn't have changed my decision.
Their defective pixel policy blows chunks.
And, my new R51e has a SINGLE stuck (bright in their terminology) pixel that UndeadPixel was unable to fix. -
love my T43, it's what I expected. I did not buy through Lenovo, so no waiting game.
-
Cool! My R40 is getting old. Wish that it had a better video card. This is a regret? No.. I know Thinkpads aren't for gaming...

I loved the build quality and service, but disliked the hell I went through getting the laptop. Long wait time, then the bad luck of having the screen with the light leakage. I am sticking with IBM, and going to give the T60 a shot.

The T23 I got for my brother is the absolute perfect fit for him. I didn't know beforehand, but he uses the exact same model at work. This makes him love it even more. Tough and rugged, but lightweight. Clean, yet sophisticated. For a refurbished model, it's absolutely perfect.
-
Bought an R52 and I love everything about it..EXCEPT for the DVD-RAM drive.
The screen had two darker spots on bottom right & left, which was pretty normal so I'm fine with that. I had some noise coming from the power brick, but a call to the IBM Support and I got a new. -
I love my IBM, but this is sort of asking the choir what they think of hymns...
-
I can't answer your poll yet
-
Do u think Lenovo makes you wait LONGER than when IBM was the owner of the thinkpads?
Ivoloos why can't ya answer
My R40 when I bought from IBM took me 2 weeks... -
I think he's waiting for his
It was in the 2-3 week area on my R51e, FWIW. -

I have some regrets about my ThinkPad. The build quality wasn't really what I had thought it would be, and the keyboard is utter crap.
It was a decent deal, though, and I love the size and weight and performance. -
I bought an Express model Z60T. It shipped the next day (it was President's day). The price was really good - and it even came with a 7-cell extended battery (I thought I read that it shipped with the 4-cell). The only down side is that I had bought a Mac-designed Booq sleeve/case and its a little tight with the 7-cell. One nice feature with a Thinkpad purchase is that the unit ships with almost no bloat-ware ( depends on how you feel about the ThinkVantage programs). It happened that I bought a Dell Inspiron 630m both notebooks arrived on the same day. Woof! That Dell just chugged with all the crap that it was loaded with.

How do I figure out what keyboard I have?
Pleae vote -
At least for my R51e, the parts lookup won't work. That thread is T4x-series specific, anyway, though. (Although, the R5x series is merely a T4x with a plastic body...)
However, here's the link: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/partslookup/partsLookup.vm -
I got the 08K4913 and 08K4757 ... What this meaN?
-
Wait, you've got two different keyboards? WTF?
-
-
when I use the lookup thread for my T43, it gives 2 numbers as well. Don't know what the difference is, but one of my numbers matches one of the Chicony ones.
-
I don't know why it says two. I ran that auto system recognize program. Everything had two SERIAL #s... How the heck do I Know if mine the ****ty china or the other ones...???
thanks !
P.S If my keyboard is the china 1, I will regret this purchase -
You mean the purchase of an R40... how long ago? Seriously, if you don't have a problem with the keyboard, why on earth would it matter which manufacturer it's from?
-
My R40 bought about 2 years Ago... I want to know if it the good or bad keyboard... I can tell a difference with this notebook and other thinkpads found at various stores. Main difference is noise and smoothness. R40 is quieter and smoother...

Thanks for telling me this, I'll follow a guide on how to remove the key... I got a regret now (finally). My PC wasn't on today and I wanted to listen to music. I went into my samba server and turned on music... No bass
...
P.S.. I checked umm well it isn't white or grey but isn't blue either... Looks like a LIGHT blue? Is this maybe from being outside alot or did Lenovo change my keyboard when I got my fan fixed? -
Light blue == blue.
Seriously. -
So I got a jap

didn't you say you are Korean? you should know that Thai != Japanese
I don't have any complaints about the Chicony keyboard, though I have never used one I can say for sure is a Thai. It does feel different than my old 600E, but there is zero keyboard flex and my fingers don't catch or anything. -
I have a Thinkpad T43 and I absolutely love it.
I've owned the T40 and an old 600X and they have been absolutely fantastic as well.
I purchased my thinkpad in my university so I was able to get a 40% off deal, subsidised by the school and the government. It comes with a warranty package and there is a thinkpad office in the university dedicated to thinkpad issues. Most problems are solved within 1-3 days.
So I reckon I was lucky to get such a good deal and excellent service during my university years. I was complaining about that my thinkpad was somewhat slow given the fact I only had 256MB ram but after i've added an extra 1GB, I've been living in a whole new world.
My fellow thinkpad lovers, add that ram. It's definitely worth it!
And to all people considering buying a thinkpad, I suggest you to do so.
Simply go compare it with other notebooks in a computer store, hold it, open the lid, close it and see how sturdy it is. This notebook oozes quality, the software (hard disk protection utility, battery manager, rescue and restore feature and the fingerprint security measure are great) that comes with it is useful; it is known as the ultimate business notebook for a reason. The T-Series in particular is still the best balance between weight/size and computing power.
best keyboard too! had to add this in -
Tell US what you think after 1 whole MONTH of using... The R40 is very strong but it is dieing... MAybE BUY T43
-
I've had my T43 for a month and a half, it's just as solid as when I got it. In some ways it is not as solid as my 600E was, but then again the 600E was thicker and a 13" vs 15" for the T43
-
man my R40 is DIEING....
-
The design and software are excellent (as I'd expect from a ThinkPad), but I only regret that they forgot to include Bluetooth on my laptop. Now I'm out of a laptop for three weeks until they install it and ship it back to me.
-
I love my T60.
No regrets, but I wish it came with free beers... -
I have been using my z61t for about 2 months now. I really like it, mainly becuase of its portability and chassis strength. There is nothing special about the internal components. I wish I had bluetooth though...and maybe a DVD burner...
-
i love my Z61t. i have it about 1 month and i like it. i have also a webcam build in and it's great to chat with frinds in msm mesngger. the only thing that i need in this notebook is bluetooth, but i can live without it. from 1 to 10 i give it 9+.
i know that the next notebook will be also IBM. -
I love my T60, except for the screen, which is mediocre. Obviously, I wasn't expecting to be able to use it outside, but even in brightly lit rooms it's a little dim on the highest setting, and the colors seem quite washed out. Even the screen on my 3 year old 12 inch powerbook was better. No dead pixels, though.
On the other hand, the keyboard is so wonderful that I don't think I could ever switch back to anything else. -
I've been using my Z61m for about almost a month now.
The build quality is fantastic, and the performance is top notch. The only complaints I have is the slightly heavy weight , but I knew that was an issue going into the purchase, so really, I can't complain. Also, the touchpad is a little small for my taste, but I find myself using the TrackPoint more anyways (which is GREAT!).
The keyboard is fantastic, although I'm still getting used to a laptop keyboard after using a desktop keyboard for 10+ years.
All in all, can't complain! -
I have z60m which is great. no problems, no complains
and I know what would be my next notebook...
and also I really can't imagine to buy something different from ThinkPad -
No regrets I love my X60!
-
-
i love my Z61m! no doubt about it.
this thing has not yet given me heat problems, even in the palm rests. maybe there is little to no heat at all. even while i am charging. i only notice a little heat when i switch into "maximum performance".
hmm... 2:45 battery life for me (6-cell). can't break the 3hr barrier.
i love the screen. mine is bright without the glare like toshiba's and dell's.
my life is at ease knowing i have thinkvantage...other's say its just a marketing crap-term,but for me,it's not.
hey, i like to see some core-duo action on those x-tablets.i'd definitely go for one if it has.for now, the X is my second choice. -
I'm a new happy owner of an X60s, biggest issue I think is the ultra-poor resolution. But I knew that before I got it and traded it for battery life and portability.
But still makes my stomach hurt that they don't give their customers any choice there.
Oh yeah, whats up with the FN key?
WHYYYYY on earth would you like to have it on the bottom left corner. OK I see the point of it having there because you always know where you have it but what about Ctrl that always have been there?
Try this.
Hit and hold down ctrl, then hold down the shift key, and then pres tab.
Do this with your left hand.
And then please tell me that there are some software that can switch theese two...
Think about it. You use your FN key like once every month and you use your ctrl key about twice every minute. Which one deserves the better place?
And you never use FN in the middle of something. FN key is used for things like changing brightness of the screen and such - such manouvers you can use two hands for and doesn't have to be that quick. But ctrl-c, ctrl-shift-tab and so on requires smoothness.
Oh, anf if the color under my arrow keys are greenish? What do I have then?
Otherwise I'm very happy with it. I had done enough research to know what would bugg me beofore I got it. And none of them really bugs me, just that I think they are so unnecessary.
The only thing that bothers me now is whether I should have picked a model with bluetooth.
Any way to add this within the chassi yourself?
Or is it built-in to the motherboard on the models that have it? -
I love my t60p
the keyboard is amazing and the 15" flexvew UXGA still makes me drool every time I start it up. It is (for me) very portable, gets good battery life, is well built, and is extremely fast and powerful. -
paqtrick22, is your battery life based on Maximum performance?
I find that if I set my power profile to maximum battery, I can get more then 4 hours off the six-cell. -
-
i got into 3hours using maximum battery (dim screen, wireless radios off, typing only). thinkpad default goes to 2:30. maximum performance closes in at about 2hrs max.
hmm... is this got something to do with 220V source? hehe. im in the philippines. hehe just kidding. just envy those with 120V source. cheaper power.
and im still impressed with this baby, no humming or anything. so quiet and not hot... im wondering why
