Hi guys, I've a brand new Y570 for about 3days now. What dismayed me is that the notebook fan fails to spin fast enough when needed to. The notebook will auto shutdown automatically due to overheating. There are 3 incidents so far:

    1) Running Left 4 Dead 2 and changing game detail settings to High while game is in progress.

    2) Exited out of game and running windows experience index immediately after that.

    3) Same as point 1: Except that it is another game.

I have contacted lenovo support and they say to update the BIOS. So far I haven't try playing games after updating as I was busy.

Anyone has the same issue as me? Thanks

From all the reviews i've read and people i've heard from it actually has decent temps. You might find other owners in the y570 thread, I'm getting mine today and I'll let you know if I experience anything like that.

Have you tried playing with the fan settings?

    (BIOS update help at all?...)

My brother was playing The Witcher last night and didn't have any problems. I'd contact them about having the fan replaced/getting a replacement laptop.

Ok guys, the notebook just shutdown itself again :( This time it was running windows experience index (it happened @ the directx 10 assessment part).

Will be contacting lenovo the 1st thing in the morning (it's 2am here lol)

Are you monitoring your temperatures? If so, what kind of temperatures are you seeing?

I've been playing games for 1-2 hours a session (5-6 sessions so far) on mine and have not experienced any issues of overheating or shutdown. Sounds like possible replacement time. Sorry for the issue.

You don't have your fan set to Super Silent Mode, do you? There are three setting, Super Silent Mode, Normal, and Performance, as I recall. If you tried to game on the silent setting, then the fan would hardly run, and I'm sure the laptop would overheat.

You didn't mention anything about the fan modes, so I figured I'd mention it, just in case.
