Ebay is your friend, You can then buy a generic caddy for 10$ and then attach the faceplate of the ODD to it, you will save lots of money this way.

sir i have problem again.. now from my right speaker.. why everytime i play music, my right speaker make some noise like the noise the radio makes when there is no channel.. but my left speaker is good... the sound like crystal.. but my right is nope... my lenovo type is 59370005...
btw, GT 755 is oc version from GT 750 right? can GT 755 do overclock again? -
So, I've found some on eBay but they all ship out from China; Estimated delivery time is something like 15 days. Do you know of any US vendors that carry the proper Ultrabay HDD caddies?
-
That definitely sounds like a hardware problem, no pun intended. You should probably call up Lenovo or chat their tech support or whatever and tell them about your problem. I haven't had a problem with my Y510p's speakers ever and it doesn't seem like a driver issue, as both speaker's would be affected.
-
hmm but the promblems only for the music with piano or instrumental sir.. when i play beat, jazz music or rock.. for the example when i play music from taylor swift - i know you were trouble its ok, no more noise in this song, but when i played music with many instrumental like piano sounds or guitar melody, my right speaker getting problem again --"
hmm.. can GT755 do overclock again sir for get higher performance?? or GT755 its just GT750 Overclock version??
btw sorry bout my grammar

GT750m Runs @941Mhz, 755m Runs @980Mhz
Both otherwise have the same shaders/etc and are both Kepler Based. Ironically, the 750M is an OC'd 650M. -
Yes, but an OC'd 755 won't even come close to a 760. But an OC'd 750 will come close to a 755.
-
Correct me if i'm wrong, but you can just use a generic 9.5mm caddy then attach the faceplate. -
oh i see.. so gt750 simillar with gt755 right? btw the new lenovo just prove the VGA sector? nothing else?? i have a plan for buy the new one, but i still confuse bout pick GT750 or wait until GT755 realese... can u give me solution sir?
and the last, last week, i remembered u said GT755 come with 1366 x 768 resolution yap? how about the full hd version??
btw can u solve my speaker issues sir?
the issues always come when i am playing instrumental sound like piano or guitar sounds...@@
thx -
Quick question. I found a caddy that says it's compatible with the Y400 and Y500. This will work in my Y510P, correct?
Edit:
Did some searching. Looks like it'll work. -
The Y510p is really giving me problems. While the shutting down issue seems to go away, I have more trouble trying to boot it up. It will always freeze at the Lenovo logo (not spinning circle appears). I'll have to manually turn it off, the turn it back on again. This time the spinning circle appears and after a while, I am able to see the login screen. And this happens every single time I'm using the laptop. I've given up trying to figure out what's wrong with it and have contacted Lenovo for a replacement. Has anyone experience the same issue as me?
-
Try updating Intel RST. I heard that fixes this problem.
-
What's the power consumption difference? There were rumors that the 755 is 50% less power.
-
Intel RST already updated to the newest problem. That's what baffles me.
-
It's so easy to make a typo. They probably meant 36W instead of 16W. Also, the 755 is based on the same GK104 Kepler as the 750M AND the 650M. If it has 2x lower power, it would probably be called the 850M and be advertised as containing *new technologies*.

On right-clicking an executable, I can specify which GPU the machine should use to run it. However, it always tells me that I have no authorization to select the GPU and redirects me to the Nvidia control panel. I'm already logged in as Administrator, so how do I give myself the authorization? I know I could choose the GPU in the control panel, but what is the point of the context submenu if I can't use it?
-
Mine doesnt do that, also i think to be able to run programs you need to have optimus (Auto-Select) on.
-
Odd. Under Global Settings, the Preferred Graphics Processor is already set to Auto-Select. Is there something else I could do?
-
Reinstall both Intel and Nvidia Drivers.
-
Thanks for the suggestion, though I think I'll skip that step. It seems to me that this authorization issue is related to administrative privilege and all that comes with the UAC. I would appreciate more input on this.
-
Well, my UAC is disabled on mine, since i only have one account on my computer anyways + the popups are annoying as hell + i generally know what i'm doing when it comes to installing software.
-

1. GT755 IS GT750 WITH 40MHZ OVERCLOCK. Ive said it enough times now. Doesnt matter anyways, 755 models come with 1366x768p and only 4 gigs ram, you are better off buying the 750M models... they have 900p and 8 gigs of ram...
2. Reinstall drivers/Install Onekey Theater and change modes -
hmm... oke thx for your information sir
2. didn;t work sir.. i think its from the hardware.. but my country doesnt support y510p waranty.. and i think i wanna buy speaker from y400 in lenovo service center and put it to my y510p... itsn't fit?? and how much is it? -
Hi, I'm a new y510p owner (got it a few days ago) of the newly released line in the UK. This model comes with full HD screen, i7 4000 MQ, 16gb RAM and most interestingly the nvidia 755m which I've got a couple of questions about.
I'm new to this stuff so please tell me if I'm posting in the wrong place!
When I was buying the system, their sales rep told me that it would support ultra-bay, with the inclusion of SLI when released in the near future - this was a major selling point. However, after looking into the 755m on the geforce page, it seems to suggest that SLI is not supported for this card, does anyone know anything about this GPU? -It seems incredibly hard to find info on it!
Also, does anyone have any knowledge of how this laptop is likely to perform with this single card compared to an SLI setup of the 750m?
Sorry if these questions have an obvious answer, I'm a massive noob at this stuff
Thankyou! -
I find it wierd that SLI is not supported on the 755 simply because it is a 750 with a 40mhz overclock... But the overall difference in performance is only 5% between both. Maybe 1-2 more fps.
Also, what's the TDP on your card according to Windows? I wanna know if this really is a 16W TDP card. -
awesome, thanks, it would be really annoying for them not to release SLI - afterall, it seems to be one of the most forefront features of the machine, I'd feel pretty cheated!
you have a single 750m in yours? how do you find the performance? -
Can you just download GPU-Z and post a screenshot of your card?
Im wondering if i can trick my 750 into acting like a 755 using MSI afterburner. -
Question for the other 510p Owners Haswell version. What does your processor throttle to when on battery?
Mine is throttling to 800MHz under load which will not run the intensive programs I need, I fear the battery can not keep up with the required wattage.
Values were read from the intel ETU(XTU to some)
I am using an SLI version which should be negligible as the second card is not activated on battery.
Thanks. -
On power-saver mode my CPU throttles up to 1.6ghz, but your CPU is intelligent and will only throttle as far as it needs to minimize heat and battery usage.
Heres the case with the 755M:
- It has the same shaders/architecture as a 750M, but with a faster core clock and memory clock, both of which can be tuned manually using a GPU overclocking tool like MSI afterburner.
- Ironically, the 750M is related to the 650M in the same matter, making the 755M into a 650M on steroids.
-Lastly, according to CPUBoss, the 755 has a TDP of 16 watts, while both the 650M and 750M have a TDP of 36-38 Watts. Is this a typo? Currently, Nvidia has not posted the 755M's TDP on it's site.
- Does a 755 SLI with a 750? Would underclocking the 755 allow SLI with a 750? -
I understand that. But even when I am on Max performance with processor states changed to minimum on battery of 95% max at 100 of course. The second I begin to run my test cases on my program, VHDL/VERILOG millions of test cases, it throttles instantly to 800MHz which is just not fast enough.
I understand they are trying to get me more battery usage but I would rather them kick on the fans and give me the power I need, I know it will drain the battery in under an hour but if that's what I want let me do it.
SLI should not work as the core clocks must match for SLI if i remember correctly, and although you could OC the 750M it's V-Bios hard coded information is what the SLI software should look for. -
Hi everyone, I just wanted some input on an issue. I have been through a lot of laptops, I have tried the Y500, Y400, Y510p, Y410p, T430, T430s.....yes I know that sounds crazy. I had initially decided to try the Thinkpad route for the better durability, but have since decided I will go back to the Y series. I would like to get one of the Y510p on the Lenovo Outlet, they currently have that model for $899. I am offered 35% off too because of all the problems I have had with the systems I've ordered. Does anyone know if the Outlet models will have the Glossy or Matte display? Also, the Y510p there would be a single GPU model with the NGFF SSD, I would basically be getting it for $584, which IMO is a great steal. However, is the Outlet route an ill-advised purchase route?
-
I have purchased over 8 laptops from the outlet, 3 have been DOA one was kinda very used looking the other 4 were mint looked new, one actually was when it was scratch and dent.
Screen and NGFF connector are a crapshoot to be honest. The outlet never offers the original item number so you would not know until you receive it and the outlets return process has gone smooth 1 of 4 times for me.
To me for 584 it may be worth the risk I will still continue to buy from it but they are usually purchased for other people, not my daily driver so if they are DOA it's usually not a problem. I have a desktop that is supposed to arrive on tuesday a whole week and a half after the estimated arrival it's all hit or miss with the outlet.
Since you are open to the outlet maybe try used off of ebay or the forums here, Unless you are only looking for Outlet New that is. -
Hey, and thank you for responding. Yea, I have ordered a number of laptops from the outlet as well, some have been good, and others not so good. I am open to the "refurbished" and "new", but have stayed away from the scratch and dent ones in fear of severe cosmetic damage. My understanding is that the refurbished ones are made to look as new, meaning it would be replaced with new casing if it were damaged. I am also assuming from how new the Y510p is, the refurbished models should not have a problem. Have you ever ordered one refurbished that was a cosmetic nightmare when you received it?
-
@Kenstang
Why not buy them from XoticPC?
XOTIC PC | LENOVO IdeaPad Y510p (59375625) -
Because I can get a Y510p for $580 from outlet with a managers coupon....
-
No i have not.
-
Yes, but it was off Ebay. Otherwise no. -
One of my concerns that I had with my old Y500 and the Y510p I previously had was the touchpad made a rattling sound, like it was loose. Has anyone experienced this on theirs? I found the rattle quite annoying. Has anyone found a fix for it? I'm guessing I could just disassemble it and tighten the pad or add a couple layers of electrical tape to the back of it to make the touchpad feel more solid. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. I absolutely hate the design of the pad, not to mention it allows dust and crumbs or whatnot to just fall through into the innards of the system.
-
No i've never had that on mine before. But it is less than a month old.
-
Just got my Y510p and it has this Hard Drive Amazon.com: Seagate 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6Gbps 64MB Cache 2.5-Inch ST1000LM014: Computers & Accessories. Is it any good?
-
btw i still confused about Gt755m... somebody said GT 755 is overclock version from gt750m and you can do overclock with your gt750m for take speed like GT755m,,. its oke, but how about with the tdp? are we can overcloc the tdp to lower?
-
The lowered TDP seems like a typo, simply because this card resembles the 750 so much.
It's slow and cheap, the cache helps but bottom line youre using a 5400rpm spinner. -
so the tdp is same with gt 750m?? i wanna buy the new one.. but i still confused for wait the new gt755 or buy gt 750... >.<
oh yah i forgot, how to combine SLI version with Optimus sir?? is it work? -
I don't know what the TDP of the 755M is, if someone could give ma an accurate report of it that would be nice.
-
and how to combine SLI with optimus sir? hehe.,..
-
Where do we buy the SLI graphics card and power brick? I am getting the single GT750m version, but I want to know if I will be able to buy the second card separately later.
-
You can order it from Lenovo if i am correct. Give them a call. I believe it retails for 230$ USD.
Sli and optimus arent compatible, however the Alienware 18 uses SLI and has a mod to be able to switch to the intel GPU, hopefully we could mod the Alienware software to work with the Y series. -
Still no laptop. I leave on the 1st and it's moved all the way to the 30th now. This is cutting it too close. I might just cancel the order.
-
Oh hey that's an interesting find! It would be interesting if we could make that software work with this haha
