According to Nvidia inspector, the two GPU's are running at different voltages. Should they be the same? GPU2 runs at a minimum of 0.806v, while GPU1 runs at 0.831v. When I run a game, it looks to go to 1.125v. Is that normal?
-

What was your FPS loss from recording with ShadowPlay?
Was surprised at how good your frame rate was at Ultra, then realized you're playing at 1366x768.

Yep that's normal. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your GPU has most likely kicked the bucket. -

Ugh. I'll try a recovery, in case that does anything, otherwise I guess I'll have to contact Lenovo
      -
I'm going to have to second that, contact Lenovo.
As far as I'm aware Shadowplay causes no fps loss (which is why I didn't simply record with Afterburner). And yeah I have I the y400, so 1366x768 it is
      -

 NO FPS loss at all?

So if you stand in an empty part of a BF3 map, there is no dip when you turn on ShadowPlay? What about running a benchmark, e.g. 3DMark, with Shadow Mode on vs. off? I find that kinda hard to believe based on my experience with ShadowPlay (20-25% loss in frame rate).
ShadowPlay is definitely not free, but the performance impact is supposed to me minimal (single digit percentages): What's the performance impact of ShadowPlay?
 -

Perhaps it depends on the game, but in the ones I've tested there has been literally no frame rate loss.
Take that BF3 clip for instance, just prior to recording I purposely studied the fps and its slight fluctuations. After activating Shadowplay there was no sudden drop, and the fps fluctuated within the same range. -

Well FPS fluctuates over the place in multiplayer BF3 so I doubt eyeballing that will give you an accurate indication of the real performance cost of ShadowPlay. That's why I mentioned looking at a static area in BF3, or better yet a canned benchmark.
 -

 Everything is set to default.
Edit: reinstalling the game fixed the sli problem.

So a recovery did nothing. I contacted Lenovo, and I'm going to send it in. At least it works fine if I use only the Intel video.
Hopefully the turnaround time isn't too much. -
You know something Octiceps, your inquiry has taught me something about Shadowplay. When I said that using Shadowplay resulted in no fps loss, I was comparing the fps I saw prior to manual recording (the Alt+F9 toggle) to the fps I saw after toggling manual recording. The problem with that comparison is that Shadowplay is constantly recording your gameplay, even if you haven't activated manual recording.
That was a fact I glossed over when making all of my prior statements. So when I pressed the button combination for manual recording I didn't see any fps loss because there really was no fps loss. The fps loss was there from the onset, due to Shadowplay running in the background.
This time however I actually deactivated Shadowplay before comparing the fps loss, so I could measure the actual difference. The following videos are a direct comparison.

Yep having Shadow Mode on has the same performance impact as manual recording, which is why you didn't notice any difference when recording while Shadow Mode was already engaged. But compared to Shadow Mode off+not recording or ShadowPlay completely disabled, there is a measurable FPS drop. In your videos it's ~18% (55 FPS vs. 45 FPS) which is in line with what I was experiencing (a bit better since I'm recording at 1080p) and definitely higher than the 5-10% claimed by Nvidia.
I don't know if you noticed this, but your GPU usage was actually slightly lower in the second video with ShadowPlay enabled. -

Take the ultrabay GPU out tell me if the problem persists.
 -

Oh, I did that right away. With the ultrabay GPU removed, the Intel chip is used, and it works just fine. As soon as it switches to the Nvidia chip, I get the problem. It's definitely an issue with the main Nvidia chip. It's under warranty, and they've already sent a return box. I should be able to send it out tomorrow, and hopefully it won't take too long to get it back.
 -

So the issue is with the native 750M instead of the ultrabay one? Wierd, it's usually the other way around!
 -

It could be both, but it's at least the native 750m. I would've thought it would be the ultrabay one to go.
 -

Late on this thread, but my issue with the 755SLI was in fact the ultrabay. Remove it and everything ran fine. With ultrabay, games crashed sometimes within seconds, other times it would take 15 minutes. They really shouldn't offer SLI in these laptops as I have never, ever heard of one working correctly.
 -

So, if I am hoping for a maxvell version/upgrade of the Ideapad Y510P, say maybe 850 SLI or 860 SLI. I really should not buy it?
 -

Forget about getting an internal blu-ray. It's more complicated and time consuming than you think. Check this out

Just a little fyi guys I'm selling my GN36 650M Ultrabay: Lenovo Y500 GN36 Ultrabay 650M | eBay

Hello , i just bought a Lenovo Ideapad t510p....it's amazing but i hate the touchpad...its ELAN and it wont let me modify the touchpad area...the buttons are integrated in the touchpad and it makes it very hard for me to click them without moving the cursor...i tried reducing sensivity but its not enough...can i reduche the touchpad ara through the registry? i tried doing it by the driver's options but it doesnt show up...
i went into the registry ediotr and i found some files regarding a Smartarea...could it be that?
one of them is SmartArea_Enable... i changed the number from 0 to 1 , but still it doesnt show up in the driver options...maybe i have to modify the other files from the registry? like SmartArea_Left_Range , SmartArea_Down_Range ecc ecc...should i modify these?
I also found other ones like PST_StartZone_Top or PST_Startzone_Bottom...i couldnt find any clue on the internet...
any idea? -

Update to the latest touchpad driver off the official lenovo y510p driver page. That will solve touchpad glitches.
 -

I have the latest driver...my problem is nto a glitch...it's something annoying for me and it doesnt have a solution in the driver options!
 -

Try drivers from elan site..I've got ones that have dead zone configuration but I don't know where had I downloaded them

So the service depot has received my laptop, and determined the issue. However they say the replacement part (whatever it may be; GPU, VRAM, Motherboard) is unavailable.
Anyone deal with the service depot before? Any idea how long it takes them to get parts?
I was hoping for a quick turnaround, but this doesn't sound promising... -

^ Wrong choice. If you're not an idiot, it's better to upgrade and fix your laptop YOURSELF.
 -

Depends what the issue is, really.
Also certain components void your warranty if you touch or mod them. For example, CPU repaste.Dragnoak likes this. -

Thanks for the snide comment. Really useful.
Above, you would have seen my issue is with the integrated gt750 (vram, most likely). I'm most definitely not an idiot, and am therefore taking advantage of the full warranty, rather than void it trying to fix something I know I cannot.
Perhaps refrain from commenting unless you have something constructive to say (for example, an actual answer to my query).Dragnoak, daicharade1 and Jobine like this. -

Ha. Buddy, I can say what I want. Who are you to tell me otherwise??

Hey guys! I plan on purchasing the Y510p SLI version ( Amazon.com: Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p 15.6-Inch Laptop (59406636) Dusk Black: Computers & Accessories)
I have a concern with the battery though.
With all the correct settings on, how much battery can I get if I just browse the web and use office?
Thanks! -

I'd be looking at 3 hours, however if you take out the ultrabay GPU and enable optimus you will get around 6 hours.
 -

I just enabled the Intel GPU on my y510p and tested it out, got about 5 hours or so. Make sure you set it to the Intel 4600 only if you're not doing any gaming or graphics work.
Once I've installed the 4600 driver upon taking out the ultrabay 750, the driver should not need to be re-installed right upon subsequent removals right? -

how is the oc on the 755m sli im think of getting a portible machine to completment my clevo
 -

Little to none as it is already clocked very highly out of the box and running near thermal limits.

Hi guys, im a newb so please go easy on me, suppose i am buying a new lenovo y510p with the bluray drive, how do i upgrade it to the sli version?? i live in dubai and i cannot find any sli version here :/

At the Lenovo site there's always a 'deal' going on (these deals, and their pricing changes every few weeks)...
2 different models of the Y510p that I've had my eye on have different hard drives; is there a big difference between these 2 hard drives: 1TB Hybrid 5400 RPM + 8GB SSHD - AND - 1TB 5400 RPM + 24GB SSD?
From what I understand - the hybrid has the 8 GB SSHD built in, and the standard HD has a separate cache for the additional 24 GB...Now - my question - is 1 of these more desirable than the other?

Hi again..have the y510p single 750m model. Anyone who has this or similar...how is elder scrolls online running on it?
Should I seriously consider overclocking it? -

I don't know if people care or not, but I know this is defiantly useful for people that researching the ultrabay. Just throwing this out there. Re-posting this.

So the depot got back to me, and the status was updated to say parts ETA is Apr 7. They even called to apologize for not meeting the 7 day turnaround. Weirdly enough, the next day, the parts ETA was changed to June 1. The next day, the parts ETA went to n/a. So I called them back and asked about the ETA. They said they would "escalate" it, and get back to me in 3 days with other options if they can't get the proper parts in a reasonable time (such as laptop replacement or refund or something). I haven't heard back yet, but I'll see on Monday if anything transpires. I know Lenovo still has models of the Y510P with 750M on their website, but is it possible that they don't have the parts anymore? Has everything gone to the 755M?
In the meantime, I got myself a Zbox to do my computing -

Good news this morning; Lenovo called to say that the part is still MIA, so they are going to replace the whole laptop (with new warranty). The only comparable model they have is 59405672. This one has 16GB, Dual 755m, newer wireless, Windows 8.1, and 24GB SSD. CPU and screen are the same.
It should ship from China on the 14th.
No idea how long the part for my old laptop would have taken (at one point, they were saying 2 months). I'm glad I picked up a little PC to tide me over.
So far I can say that Lenovo support has been good. If they can't meet their turnaround goals, they will do everything they can to remedy it. Knock on wood... -

If they would have ran out of Y510p's they might have sent you a Y50... IIRC this happened to a NBR user with his Y500.
 -

That would have been interesting. Unfortunately the Y50 isn't even out yet. Maybe if my laptop had broken in a few months from now. I wonder how long after the new models come out that the old models are discontinued.
 -

What funny is that at least you are getting a better WIFI, stock OC GPU's and an M.2 slot. Did Lenovo charge you anything except for shipping?
Just pray that they don't send you a glossy screen. The matte one is soo much better. -

No charge for anything. They even sent a prepaid box when I returned my old laptop. I also have the battery and power brick still (they said not to send those back), so unless they want them back, I'll have those as extras, too.
If I do get a glossy screen, then so be it. I have the laptop hooked up to my HDTV most the time anyway, so I'm not concerned.
The whole process was handled very well, I'm glad to say.
