I just got mine from amazon. Everything looks fine except every time I turn on the wireless adapter on the laptop it makes my router go crazy (d-link DI-524). The router starts to keep restarting itself, my desktop computer which has a wired connection gives me the 'network cable unplugged' message and drops the internet connection.
Once I turn off the u330 wireless adapter everything goes back to normal.

I get my way around computers but this problem just puzzles me. I have a Dell Lattitude from work which connects just fine.

    help please

Very unfortunate to hear. I would disable and turn off the readycomm software and services that control the wireless adpater. I just let windows handle it. Hope this works.

Thanks for the prompt reply. You were right the stupid readycomm software was the problem.

    It is gone forever :D

This same thing happens every time I bring my U330 over to my buddy's house who has the ubiquitous Linksys WRT54G or whatever.. as soon as I boot up, his router goes nuts, knocks his whole network down. I disabled the readycomm software months and months ago and just use the Vista software. Everything works fine at my house..

I was wondering just the same thing! I would love for that button to boot up linux. I wonder how the bios is configured, and if it would be possible to spoof the grub boot loader's flags to match the recovery partition (then allowing me to choose between linux or the recovery partition). I will probably look into this at some point, unless someone already has....

havoc531 or anyone else that has had a m1330 how does the u330 compair as i am thinking bout making the switch?

I like the ease of the slot loading on the m1330 you think the drive on the u330 could be swapped out with a slot loading dvd ?

Has anyone tired ubuntu withthe u330? If so please share, thanks.

Due to the chassis construction, it would be very hard to get a slot-loading drive to fit in nicely. Also... slotters don't do discs good over time.

With anything other than Vista on here you have to switch graphics cards in the BIOS instead of with 3 clicks from the desktop. Because of that, Linux not really recommended for the full feature use here.

    1. IBM has nothing to do with these
    2. The only issues at the time are:
2a. The Power Management software screwing around- custom power plans fix this
2b. Some irregularities in battery calibration are present... an investigation by Lenovo engineers is underway, but they have been unable to see the issues. The battery shows proper capacity when properly calibrated.

Hey, does anyone have a problem with the right-click on the touchpad having a hard time being pressed? It is as if the button is hitting some kind of obstruction. It doesn't happen all the time so I'm afraid of sending it in and Lenovo not being able to replicate the problem.

I've been having some battery charging issues that I would like to see if anyone else is having...

when it comes time to charge the battery it will sometimes not FULLY charge. The lenovo battery meter just stops at sometimes 96% or 99%. there has also been a few times where my battery has died so I plug it in but it is running off of straight A/C power and not charging the battery. The only way to get the laptop to start charging the battery is if I disconnect the battery and plug it back in. Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas on how to fix this?

April 2009, new models of U330 were released with T6400 and T8600.
Has anyone bought these, then could you share your experience?
I wonder if Lenovo just changed the CPU or other things too.

Yeah, I noticed that too while snooping around, waiting fir a good deal on this. Any idea why the hell that is? I think I'll hold off until June 26th for the rumored free W7 upgrade. Even with the 10% coupon, it's the same price as with CPP so no rush.

    On a COMPLETELY separate topic:

An update to this thread. I successfully tested Logitech Harmony one remote control with my Lenovo Ideapad u330 noteboot. Media Center IR control works perfectly with the remote I have. Windows media player work fine too. But all the other media players do not respond to IR commands.
Hope this helps some of you out there.

    Cheers.

Is anyone having problems with their U330's switchable graphics, when i try to switch to high-performance the screens blinks as usual and then stays blank until I reboot or close the lid. When I do close the lid and open it up again I get the Blue Screen of Death. I receive two different BSOD's the first is: 0x0000007E error and the other is an 0x00000050 error. This switching problem has only recently happened, there has been no new hardware or software installed in the past month. Even when I am not trying to swtich graphics cards, I worry about closing the lid because I get the BSOD sometimes. I reinstalled the ATI drivers, but that didnt fix anything.

    Can anyone help?

i'm lookin to buy the u330, but this issue is holding me back. is this a problem with no work arounds? if work arounds do exist, are they difficult to implement or do they hamper performance? i really don't want to be gimped with a dud battery in korea, which is where i will be using this laptop, i don't know what lenovo support will be like if i'm all the way out there.

On the market for this notebook, Lenovo u330. Are there still issues with battery life? Please let me know. For anyone who has just recently purchased their notebook this month. How long does it last in the Integrated mode as well as the Dedicated mode?

Hey guys, its a been very long week and I have since sent back my U330 for repairs since I am still under warranty (THANK GOD). It turns that that service tech made a note on the invoice, the problem was a "Bad LCD camera cable that gives errors while opening and closing the the LED lid". I am also doing my own testing to see if all is well. So if any of you guys are experiencing these same issues just send it back and it's all good.

-Now I have to put everything back in... gonna be a long day.

    Hi guys

Looking to buy a u330, but not sure which model. I'm wondering whether it will be worth an extra $200 for a P8600 4gb RAM as opposed to a T6400 2gb RAM?? I don't really do that much intensive work on my laptop, just mainly web surfing, word processing, multitasking and some gaming here and there as well. What do you guys think? Its also annoying that the model which I was intending to buy in between these 2 (P7450) disappeared from the site today..!!

    Thanks in advance!!

P-series CPUs use much less power than the T-series. Plus the P version also comes with a nice 2 gigs of RAM... it's more futureproof, let's say.

tested it out and checked to see what it changes, and I can officially tell you its USELESS

all it does is change the critical hibernation level from 5% to 3% for all of the power profiles...so much for getting a fix

GREAT NEWS!! I am not sure if anyone still follows this thread...

Recently, I upgraded my U330 to Windows 7. I have seen HUGE improvments in battery life. I get 5 hours now on power save settings!! Not sure if this is thanks to windows or the new Lenovo power manager for windows 7.

Also, I was using vista 32 bit, and this is Windows 7 64 bit.

Additionally, there are no problems. Everything runs smooth, and switchable graphics seems to be more reliable than in vista.

    UPGRADE!

I no long have RM installed since upgrade. Not sure if I will put it back on since I no longer have a need for it. I can tell you that I was getting 3.5 max battery in vista. I have been getting 4.5hr in windows 7 on a regular basis. After further use, 5hr is still out of reach.
I would like to note that I still believe Lenovo misrepresented this products battery operating time. They state it is 5 hours. Unfortunately, a legal remedy would be hard fought here. Lenovo would likely argue that the 5 hours is attainable under super power save, screen off, hdd idle, etc etc.. Basically, 5 hours is attainable when the U330 is functionally worthless, but nonetheless attainable. It could be a good case though, as liability under the UCC and common law will focus on the representation, and what it led the consumer to believe. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE. Do not rely on the representations contained herein). If I decide to file suit against them in spare time, I’ll let you guys know. Maybe a class-action could come out of it one day. I did buy this laptop under the representation that it would get 5 hours on battery…

hello there, I was looking for a replacement for my d620, and u330 look like a great choice to me, couse, d620 is a great laptop, very firm, no bending and stuff, light, durable, no flexing...but screen was not so good, I mean, it is ok, I can use it, but, viewing angles are not so good, I need to adjust lid forward vs backwards very fine to be able to see clear

from a new toy, I wanna it to be little lighter, little faster, it need to be very good built, but, I think I don't need those thinkpad features, I just don't wanna my laptop to flex and wobble while I'm holding it to palmrest with one hand...
also, I really wanna display to be nice and not so very sensitive to lid angle position like current d620
win7 will be installed like it is on d620, and, also, I will be using SSD that I'm using right now, so, I think battery life won't be issue for me :D
also, I play no games on my laptops, so, the ones with intel gpu only is ok for me
do you guys think that u330 will make me happy ?
also, here in Croatia, it is impossible to buy u330, so, is ebay my only choice ?

    this one
could be a good choice with under 600 bucks including shipping fees

thanx for any advice and sorry for text wall of bad english

Also, are there any smaller ac-adapters available other than the huge honking one that came with it? I'm not looking for a car adapter, just some Lenovo/IBM adapter that's better designed for travel.

Thank you! I love the Lenovo u330 but was very dissapointed w/the washed out looking screen out-of-the-box. The settings below made a tremendous difference in the quality of the screen.
