    Hi, guys. I have a little and maybe stupid question here. On my newly delivered Thinkpad T61, I have a sticker that says: "Intel Centrino Duo". Is it the same as "Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250"? cause thats what I ordered..

    Thank you all advance, and hopefully someone will help me with this.

    Yes. Centrino Duo is the chipset. Core 2 Duo is the processor.

    Centrino is Intel's name for systems that are not ONLY using the mobile Core 2 Duo series but are ALSO using Intel wireless networking. If you didn't have an Intel wireless card, I don't think they would allow the reseller to slap the Centrino badge on the system.

    Oh, I also have a one more question. There are two plastic buttons sticking out on the left side, I guess they are Expresscard slots. So what should I do with them. Press them in? Before I turn on the laptop?

    It doesn't matter if you do it before or after you turn on the laptop, but, yes, just press those buttons in (it may kick out a plastic spacer currently in the slot. That's OK).

    @eyecon82:

    That would be the reason :). It has something to do with Intel's power management plans, so they will not certify a system as "Centrino" unless it is running their processor AND wireless card (I can't remember, but it may require GMA graphics to be running, too).

    The slot button should be pressed in to avoid it snapping off. Any fake card inside should remain inside to protect the connector inside the laptop and the other laptop internals from damage (dust, change, pens, etc) unless it's replaced with a real card. People have told me that they remove it to increase air flow and remove mass, but that's unlikely to have much effect.

    In tel has power management too? That's three power management systems converging on the card.

    Is there a properties panel to control this power management plan?
