Received the tank-like T530, and it is a big adjustment for me -- coming from X220.
I am considering returning this machine and get a T430, if the 1600 X 900 on it is as good as the one on T530. There are some people who say that they opted for T530 to avoid the bad display in the T430 line. Is the screen on T430 really that bad?

I own various T5**, T4** and X2** models. The T530 is not really "a tank."
Give it a few days and you might like it.
The T430 screens (both HD and HD+) are pretty bad. If you happen to receive a T430 with a Samsung HD+ screen, that one may be a better screen. Don't you hate spending your money this way?
The T430 can get really hot on the left side of the palmrest, where the main HDD bay is. -
So the best option to get a high resolution screen is T530?
Is the 1600 X 900 screen good enough? -
I own a T520 with AUO FHD 1920x1080 screen (and I use it with Windows 7's 125% scaling). If I bought a T530 today, it would be one with AUO FHD screen -- no doubt, no second thought.
I cannot directly answer your "good enough" question. I like the AUO FHD screen primarily because of its high quality. -
I've owned T530's with both the FHD and HD+ screens. The HD+ wasn't good enough for me, so it got sent back to Lenovo. If I'm buying a pretty expensive laptop I expect to last a number of years, I want the part part of it I look at constantly -- the screen -- to be as high quality as possible.
The FHD screen not only has higher resolution and color saturation, but is noticeably brighter. Published test results show this, too. To me, that's a big issue when viewing photos and movies and when using the T530 in bright light.
YMMV.
Is T430 1600 X 900 screen the same display quality as the T530's
