    Is There a Lenovo Y580 Without Optical Drive?

    does lenovo have or are they owrking on a laptop thats like the Y580 without the optical drive?

    Well, the Y500 is similar and ODD-less if you opt for the SLI GPU configuration. But aside from that, if you need a system with a powerful GPU but can skimp on the ODD, no, Lenovo does not offer such a system. One of the only major examples I can think of, actually, is the HP Envy 15 Generation 1 and 2 (although I wish more systems with that design existed).

    hey midnight.. can u please post links to or post the part numbers of the HP Envy models that satisfies my specs? i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks.

    again i'm looking for backlit kb, 1080p, no optical dr, i7 processor @ 2.3Ghz, 8GB ram upgradable to 16GB and excellent GPU for gaming. thanks man!

    Those HP Envy models are ~2 years old at this point, so I wouldn't really recommend it anymore. Here's one as an example.

    thanks but it looks old and is a little pricey. but i appreciate the link.

    maybe u can still recommend anoyher laptop based on my specs.. if u can i'd greatly appreciate this.
