I just got my T530. It has only the machine, battery, and power adapter.
I did not see any spare trackpoint caps, which I always got for my past 7 Thinkpads.
Has Lenovo stopped shipping them?
Thanks!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I think I might still have gotten a set with my x220 or x220t, but I definitely did not get a set with my T430.
EDIT: FWIW I like the bowl tips so I bought like a super cheap 10 pack a few years ago, and I still haven't even gone through half of 'em. -
I don't recall get any with my X220i nor any of the newer review units I got either.
-
Interesting....Anyone got a set with their Thinkpad 530 machines?
-
Lenovo stopped sending out extra caps since about halfway through the Tx10 generation, if I remember correctly. My brother's X230 did not come with extra caps.

Thanks for your input!! MidnightSun, ZaZ, and Commander Wof.....all legendary names to me. Thanks, again!

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
My X220t came with a spare set, I also have a whole bunch of random ones lying around..

I think they have stopped it around 2010 / 2011. My L520 didn´t come with extra caps, neither did the T420 of my mother or the L420 of my brother.

Didn't have any spare caps with my T420. Thankfully I still got a set of weird and wonderful caps from my T61 and R61...

Didn't send me any spare caps for my W520.
-
None for my W530.
Not a problem though, just buy a 10 pack of your preferred cap. I personally like the classic dome. -
No spare pack was shipped with my X220i either. (Germany)
I got one pack for free from a friend, apparently Lenovo has changed the material their caps are made of, the caps are now made from much cheaper rubber which wears off allot quicker.
I have an old T61 cap to compare, it still looks like new after 3 months of intensive usage while the new caps are completely worn off and black after only 1 month.
If you have a chance to grab some old caps in good condition DO SO NOW!!!
Seriously, you won't regret it. -
Are you sure? I can´t say that from my trackpoint caps. THe older caps of my R60 or my R50e wear off as quick as the newer caps that I use in my L520.
-
Yes, I am 100% positive. I'm not screwing with you this time, this is something I first noticed when switching from the T60 to my X220i. The whole reason why I got myself that cap pack was because my X220 cap was basically unusable after only 1 month. Totally black and the rubber surface completely flat and worn off.
Those caps were from Andy, so they were original ones and the newest version. I have been using the basically brand new cap from my dads old T61 for quite some time now (he always used a mouse) and it still looks like new.
The X301 cap seems to be high quality too, so this change must have been recent, probably when they decided to stop shipping extra caps. -
My X120e did not come with extra caps, and it's in good shape with my usage after just about 2 years. The TrackPoints on my dad's X220 and my brother's X230 seem to be made of the same material, or at least I can't tell a difference.
-
My W520 trackpoint looks exactly the same as 600X's X220 spare cap, so it's not just one bad cap.
-
No spare(s) with my W530
Is it true that no spare trackpoint cap comes new Thinkpads?
