Is the blackfriday deal worthy buying or should I wait out for a better sale?

I have only been following Lenovo's sales for a few weeks. Is the BLACKFRIDAY code a great deal or does Lenovo have better new-year sales that I should wait for? I'm in no hurry to get a machine, I'm happy to wait if there are better deals to be had.

You can always wait till Boxing day/week if you don't need it now.

In past experience how much better are the boxing day sales compared to the 57% off black Friday deal on now?

    Thanks,

    Castel

Lenovo isn't going to share that information with anyone here. The best you'll get here is a guess. They keep the coupons random. Otherwise people would just wait for the coupons. You can make a quote on a notebook, then you'd have 30 days to decide.

Well I just ordered mine this afternoon. Been following the prices pretty closely since august and this seemed like a good time. Now I just get to spend the next week until it arrives wondering if my $1290 was money well spent or will I end up regretting it (-reassuringly pets traumatized credit card-)

This was a good time for me. I purchased an X201i last year on the cheap and ended up upgrading its warranty to 3yr, ram, battery, and purchased an ultrabase ($650+$40+$120+$50+$50 = $940...great prices on the new 9-cell battery and ultrabase by the way). I've since followed the X201/T and X220/T markets for a while now and figured the extra $360 spent on getting a brand new X220 tablet with ultrabase and 3yr warranty was well worth the price premium. $1300 for all of that from deals is money well spent IMO.

That is in contrast to waiting for prices to lower on current gen stuff or for Ivy bridge X series laptops to come out at brand new prices. I would imagine future deals would be similar to these Black Friday deals, but I'd rather not risk it nor spend the time waiting for the better deal. I wish I could tell you how good the future Lenovo sales will be, but I've been boned by new year's and labor day sales before on other products like HDTVs. Maybe lenovo is more generous?

Canadians will get it too of course even though Americans will probably have it cheaper.

If you live in Toronto, you can see some of current T series in person at Computer Systems Center at College/Spadina.

The Barnes and Noble Lenovo partner site has great deals for the X220, if you are looking for upgrades like

    Intel Core i5 2430M processor
    IPS
    Regular Hardrive, not SSD
    Bluetooth
    720p cam
    Possibly an Intel Centrino-N 6205 (2x2 AGN)
    all for around $750~770

    FYI

The CYBERMONDAY deals are even better than the BLACKFRIDAY deals on Lenovo web site.

The blackfriday, specifically, the Saturday deal for T420 for 631 was the absolute lowest. Just a point of reference.

Cybermonday seems to have gone back up to 735.00 now

I have been monitoring X220's specifically. The CyberMonday prices are definitely less than the BlackFriday prices. Your results may vary...

For my X220 config (all including taxes):
    • A week ago (with discounts in effect) = $1,705
    • BlackFriday price = $1,559
    • CyberMonday price = $1,352

To be fair, Lenovo's prices are all over the place - the base prices were a bit lower ($20-30 USD) during the Veteran's Day weekend. But it's not a bad deal right now over at the B&N store.

For anyone like me, who could not wait for Cyber Monday (or buy through B&N), it's worth noting that Lenovo does do price matching. I put in a price match request to take advantage of the Cyber Monday deals.

I'm assuming that Lenovo Sales have been pretty busy but I have just received notification that I will be getting a credit of $350 (which is the Cyber Monday discount on top of the discount that I was already getting). That covers the additional mSata SSD that I want to add (although I don't know yet if that will be SATA 3 or SATA 2) :)

Could you please post the BN portal address? I've searched on BN but only the brands A-H seem to download, do I can't find a price for the Lenovo X220. Thanks!

I saved a W520 config in my 'cart', based upon the BLACKFRIDAY pricing. Does anyone know if this can be used after the fact(kinda of a late to the game price-matching thing), or am I outa luck on using that discount?

I'm waiting on last minute $$$ to buy, but don't know exactly when I'll receive those dollars. Makes it tough to time a sale, until I have money in hand.

I can live with the BLACKFRIDAY pricing, so would really like to be able to use that, even tho the sale is over.

    @ AMATX,

I'm pretty sure that it is of no use what you have in your cart. You need to generate a "quote". You go through all the purchase steps and then just before you finalize purchase, you will see "generate a quote" down at the bottom of the page. I don't know how long a quote is in effect for (it doesn't actually say on the email quote that I received).

In order to do price matching request, you have to generate a quote and email that number to Lenovo Sales.

As I said earlier, I saw better prices for CYBERMONDAY than BLACKFRIDAY for my config. CYBERMONDAY is still there and when I priced mine out again, it now comes to more than $100 more than yesterday. So Lenovo is constantly changing the prices...

Thanks to everyone in this thread! I just picked up a T420s to replace the T60 that I'm currently using.

Just a heads up to any who, like me, placed an order through Lenovo before finding out about the B&N Gold site, you can create a quote through the B&N link and then send it to Lenovo - they'll match the price and refund the difference!

Ahh price matching. I went through the MasterCard Marketplace portal as outlined at dealsea.com. I just randomly found it (some kind of i2 Corporate Lenovo link) from trying to find out what the 128GB SSD Lenovo uses in their newer laptops; created an account, followed the steps and then bam! $800 for the base X220T configuration.

It shipped today too; be here Friday. o_O

I wish I've seen this before I bought mine from the lenovo outlet...now I think I overspent on features that I may not have necessarily needed =/

hi. im in the uk. i missed out in a deal from lenovo. it was discount was called cyberweekend15% so i save 15%. i went to use it tuesday and then next thing i now it said it dont work then after i saw a new code for only 5%. i rang up lenovo to see if they could help me out. was only lowered to 10%. for what i would of bought at 15% means im losing £39 from the extra geting it at 10% off.
my question is can i get much better than 10%/15% in the uk? what is the highest discounts has there been in there past and to expect?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, Lenovo UK don't offer the same generosity. You can get 4% cashback if you sign up with Quidco and buy through the link on the Quidco site.
