Is the bottom right hand corner of your T61 screen darker?

I just got my new T61P with a 15.4" screen and Windows XP Pro. I noticed on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, right by where the time is displayed that it's actually a bit darker there. It's not dead pixels becuase if you put your mouse cursor over it you can see your mouse cursor, but you can notice that the bright white mouse cursor turns to a more dirty or sorta grey-white color in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

I checked my Dell laptop which also has a 15.4" screen and it ALSO has this small darker area in the bottom right corner. The dell is a bit less noticable than it is on the T61P...

is this something I should send the laptop back to get fixed? it appears that this little bottom right hand corner of the lcd isn't getting backlight the same as the rest of the screen..

    thanks

Yes, it's like that on my 15.4" Samsung WSXGA+ panel too, the bottom right corner for about 4-5 millimeters along each side. It's not very noticeable, and not something I'd send my laptop in to get fixed for, but combined with other complaints I have about my panel, it's something I would bring up, if I wanted to request a replacement. If you're interested, check out the thread where I'm trying to find help investigating to see if the LG panel is much better than the Samsung.

That problem sounds like there is leaking liquid crystal. You could maybe get it sent back, that is up to the manufacturer, and the warranty you got. If it is a very severe issue, i'd suggest calling Levono.

I don't think it's liquid crystal leaking otherwise the display in that area would be distorted.. it's just a darker color for about 1/4" along the bottom right corner and right side bottom corner.. sorta where the 'PM' or 'AM' shows for the clock..

Grab PC Wizard 2008 and it should tell you the manufacturer of your lcd.
I don't have the dark corner on mine. Like most lcds the brightness isn't uniform throughout ( center is always brighter) but variations in brightness are very slight , hardly noticeable - on mine at least.

I have a 2 year old M4 with a 14" 4:3 screen. Same problem - the lower right hand corner of the screen (where the clock is on the toolbar) looks almost "dirty". I think it's more of a design defect than an actual display defect.

so it seems this is a similar problem among many laptop owners.. should I try to get a replacement from the manufacturer, or do you think the same problem will exist on the new one?

I have the same problem with my T60p except I have it on both bottom corners and it seems like it is spreading up. I think the problem is that the LCD is leaking light. I thought I was paranoid or something I guess there are others too. Youn can really see it with a light background color.

Thanks for the tip on PC Wizard.

For the record, I just got a T61. The display is a Samsung, LTN154P2-L05. It has exactly the same problem in the lower right corner. I can live with it as long as the dark spot doesn't grow. Anybody know what Lenovo has to say about it?

    Cheers,
    Richard

seems like all these samsung displays have this problem. Not sure if it's only samsung or lg. It's not a big deal but it's just annoying since I know it's there I look for it and see it.

mine is about 5mm x 5mm in size and slowly fades going upwards along the right hand side of the display.
