I'm looking for something lightweight. Why would I want to chose the x300 over the x200?

I guess it depends on whether you need slightly more screen real estate and integrated optical drive (x300) vs more computing power and longer battery life (x200).
-
Yeah, what joseluis said. And for the fact that considering the above, the x300 is still thinner and lighter than the x200.
For the record I just got rid of my x300 for an x200, merely for the 2.4GHz and longer battery combo. I also made 350$ doing so
-
How do you compare the form factor of the X300 to the X200? which is better in terms of usability?
I went with the X301 because 12" just doesn't cut it for me... and the battery sticking out the back just doesn't look natural
-
The question really is: Power or Style, internal DVD and better screen.
If you want of the above get the Sony Z
Except of course lenovo is the only option for you
-
Just make sure you don't place it on something that you care about, like your table, sofa, or your legs!

Aren't Lenovo batteries also made by Sony?
-
Most people are selling their X300's for the faster and more efficiently smaller X200. The X200 should be the top platform for ultralights until next year so you will not have to replace until then if you want to always have the top dog notebook.. The X301 is still ludicrous in price...
-
LOL.. This is very bad for Sony Vaio users.. I'm hoping the X200 being a new product doesn't ahve any issues like this down the road..
-
I´m really torn about this....
I REALLY need the higher resolution, portability, performance, awesome keyboard and trackpoint, but lenovo doesn't have the right combination for me... ugghhh. I'm really considering the X301 with 128 SSD, since I'm also getting a Thinkstation, so any processing intensive tasks can be made there. What's keeping me from ordering is that there aren't any reviews yet, so justifying a USD 3000+ computer without a review is impossible. -
do you need the high res for work at home?
If yes why don't you gert the x200 alongside a nice 24" full hd monitor? -
No. I need it for work on the road. I travel a lot, and frequently have 20+ windows open while at the airport terminal. Spreadsheets, remote desktop, Integrated Development Environment, many Instant Messenger windows (work related)
I know the difference between 1280x800 vs 1440x900 isn't enough, since I need more vertical screen space than horizontal, but still, the next step is the T500 which is just too big for travelling. I had a T42p (with 9 cell battery) for three years and it was just a tad too heavy, but the 1600x1200 was a blessing.
I'm also considering the X61T, since it has greater resolution still, but just can't pull the trigger...
Is the x300 worth it over the x200?
