I used a y560 for 10 months during which it failed 4 times (one dead hd 5730 graphics card, one dead hdd, one dead mobo, and then the keyboard started going haywire). I think that it just didn't stand being given a shaky ride twice a week via the public transit in new york city (the keyboard however is a hardware or bios defect of the laptop itself as plenty of people on the lenovo forums are having the same issue).
(Can't say I enjoyed the fn key being stupidly placed in the lower left hand corner of the keyboard either and the tech department at lenovo is really taking a and would not provide a bios option to switch the two keys around)
I managed to get it replaced with a y570 which should be arriving today or tomorrow. I just don't know if I should use the y570 (after the y560 was nothing but a disappointment) or if I should ebay it and get an asus...

Well there is a whole thread on the topic, but basically from the information I saw in there;
It's quite a solid laptop although some people report the screen hinges 'wobble'.
Some people have problems with Optimus, although honestly that's USUALLY more of a problem that can be easily fixed with the right drivers.
Very few people have theirs shipped and it just straight up doesn't charge for them.
People do like how it doesn't get very hot, and how the keys feel very nice.
Obviously the price/performance is great, hence why the laptop is so popular. -
From what I've read on this forum and others it seems that the build quality of the Y570 is much better than the Y560.
Is the y570 a solid notebook?
