Does anyone know if there is a performance/battery life difference between choosing a thinkpad with an ibm 11a/b/g wireless card as opposed to an intel 11a/b/g card? I have tried to find documentation on this topic an have had no luck!

Also does anyone know if it is more beneficial to call and place an order with a sales rep instead of purchasing online? I called to ask a question regarding a system and the rep told me that it would go through faster if i put the order in with him. Do they get commision or something?

    All input is appreciate

    Hands..

re: 11a/b/g wireless card. Battery wise, don't believe there is a difference. Performance wise... this is a little tricky, I have read several reviews (different laptops) that have complained about the intel card VS another card (not the IBM.. can't remember the name). So, there is a performance difference, but I do not know which one (between IBM and INTEL) is better.

re :place an order throu phone/sales rep. I will say GO for the sales rep. If you get a nice sales rep (and most of them are very nice cause that want your business) she/he can help you decide on lots of things. Make sure you know at least your "pocket-limit".. cause a very enthusiastic sales rep might even sell you a coffee maker with your laptop.. [ :D]

A perfect example is this.. A good friend of mine was trying to order a dell computer through their website.. he kept having problems.. and finally gave up. He could have come back the next day (maybe the site was down or something).. but he decided to do it through the sales rep.. He called and ended up configuring a much better system and much.. MUCH CHEAPER just because the sales rep was nice enough and knowledgable enough to take advantage of the best "deal" at the time plus some sort of rebate.. and on top gave him an educational discount.. etc.. [ ;)]

    Hope this help..
