I'm ready to pull the trigger on an X201T. It looks like students and staff can realize substantial discounts, and I'd like to purchase through them.

    How does warranty registration work?

Is there anything in the Lenovo Terms & Conditions of Sale that preclude having a friend purchase for me?

    I live in the USA.

The warranty is linked to the machine, not the buyer/owner so you don't have anything to worry about.
