Apart from the noise came from the fan on the left side, I also noticed a noise coming under the right palm rest.

Do they have another fan under the palm rest? Or it is presumably the noise from hard drive?

I am pretty sure that there is no hard drive activity.

    Does anyone have any idea?

There's no second fan. That's the hard drive you're hearing - mine sounds the same.

are you sure it is from the hard-drive? It just keeps making that whirring sound and I seriously doubt it is from the hard drive.

There is nothing else there but the hard drive. You can pull off your palmrest yourself to take a look if you don't believe me. What you're hearing is just the platters spinning in the drive's idle state.

As for keeping it quiet, there's a couple options that I know of. Notebook Hardware Control has some drive management options that may work, and if your HDD is a Hitachi, you should try out PowerBooster to control hard drive activity.
