I just received my X201 with a webcam. However there appears to be some sort of clear plastic (protective?) sticker over the webcam area as there are what seems to be air bubbles. But the sticker doesn't seem to come off either, at least not easily like something intended to be removed. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is this a clear protective sticker and is it supposed to come off?
In fact, if you check out the review of the X201 here on Notebook Review, in the picture of the display, you can actually notice the air bubbles over the area around the webcam.

I took the sticker off of the webcam. It's totally okay.

Is the sticker intended to be removed?
The area that it covers is recessed and the sticker runs to the edges on all sides, making it seem rather difficult to peel off. There isn't a tab or anything like there sometimes is for protective film that's intended to be removed. -
i wasn't sure either until one day when i was playing around with the webcam a few months after purchase, the picture was very blurry but when i took the film off, the picture was much clearer. it was a night-day difference.

Both my Thinkpads had that clear sticker on the lens. I used a fine needle and carefully pried the sticker off both. Things look much clearer now when using the webcam. So you should probably attempt to get that sticker off...

The film is just for protection. Take it out. It just looks confusing because there is no end protruding enough to indicate that it's meant for removal.

Don't feel bad. My microwave had a clear plastic covering over the keypad that stayed there for 2 years because I didn't notice it, until it started to curl at one corner.

Yep, that's supposed to come off. My T500 had a clear plastic layer over the webcam as well.

It's there even without the webcam; I also removed that film from my X201i.

it's for protection. it's safe to peel it off and you can get a better picture quality
.
Is there a sticker over the webcam on a new X201?
