It looks like it's on there pretty good. I kind of like it. I suppose a sharpie or some electrical tape might work.

you could use paint or black permanent marker, or just black sticker.

Can remove it with a heat blower, same thing you use to dry your hair.

heat gun may also warp the case and damage the LCD, which is not covered by Lenovo warranty.

or, go with the easy solution; replace the badge with the previous version.   it's already black and a lot more subtle.

    (that's my X220, btw)

I don't think you can really remove it. I like how it looks, though, so I haven't tried.

That looks much better. How do you do that?

Btw, in my old T410i, there is no mention of lenovo on the cover, just the thinkpad logo..

did you look at the photo?   why would you think it can't be done when there's a photo clearly showing it having been done?

peel and stick.   seriously.   the new badges are aluminum with adhesive backs.   an x-acto knife or other sharp object will pull the old one up (bending it, no doubt), leaving you with a blank spot to replace it with the previous version.

the old style badge is all over ebay.   that's the easiest way to get them.

with the lid open, yeah.   so is the thinkpad logo. ;)

If the tag is on via an adhesive then something like 'Goo Be Gone' can do the trick; even naptha - often used as lighter fluid in the older style lighters & my choice as an adhesive breaker - will work. Neither should affect the plastic case at all.
Note though you will need to get it between the case and the adhesive strip in order for it to do its job. So you might have to lift the corner of the tag a bit to get some in there or put some around the tag and let it soak through the edges of the adhesive strip.

BY ALL MEANS, IF YOU GO THIS ROUTE, TEST WHAT EVER LIQUID YOU USE ON A AREA OF PLASTIC THAT WONT BE VISIBLE, SUCH AS INSIDE A RAM COVER OR SUCH.

I have never had an issue with either of these methods, but YMMV.

dude, it's just a sticker.   it peels up with zero effort and leaves no residue.

DO NOT use chemicals on the lid.   there's absolutely no need.

@fraushai>>> That ^ sounds like the voice of experience; that's the one I would follow.

Personally, I look at the screen more often than I do the lid, so I wont care about the tag.

But, if ya have to cover it, how about a nice smiley face or Smurf sticker?? That'll brighten up everyones day :)

That's a good idea too. However, the lenovo logo seems to be buldging out so any sticker on it would look terrible :p

I just ran my finger over it. It doesn't feel like it is bulging out.

Not on mine. They are covered. And the lid cover is correct. The logo, decals or lid cover should be oriented to the audience that will see it when the lid is open.

Can you imagine if the Apple logo was oriented the way Lenovo has decided is proper? LOL Apple fanbois would revolt.

But then again can you imagine Apple sticking to the same design for nearly 20 years.

Apple and Lenovo have quite a different design goal.

Quite representative of each side's viewpoint: Apple for others to gawk at, ThinkPad for your own good.

with Apple products, the products take the centre stage, not the user/consumer. With Thinkpads, the laptop is just an accessory and you are always in the centre stage, so it is always about you and not the product you are using.

Just because Apple is winning in Market Cap race, it doesn't mean that Lenovo would gain the same market share, if it was to copy Apple's every move in product design and marketing. If Lenovo did do that not only would it alienate its loyal Thinkpad followers, but at the same time not gaining much from Apple's pie eaters, since it would seen as derivative.

Sometimes it is better to have some individuality in your product design and carve out your own niche.
