Or should I call them and ask specifically?

You basically have to call or email. FYI the outlet closes at 5pm eastern time...
Though I usually guess that w/ Backlight = LED...and if it doesnt mention anything then I assume CCFL.
The problem is when they list incorrect resolution. -

You can look up the model number and and serial number on the page. Do a parts lookup under the warranty section, and you can find the FRU of your screen (found out mine was an LG). Look up that FRU, you should be able to figure out if it's LED and CCFL.

Where do you see the serial numbers on the outlet page? I just see the outlet part number and the manufacturing part number which has the type.
edit: nevermind I see. you can just look up the manufacturing part number

Though still doesn't seem to give FRUs for the parts? Unless I am missing something. -

Take this W500.
http://outlet.lenovo.com/laptops/405l3a6497.html
Part number is 4058CTRL3A6497
4058 CTR, a CTO changed to CTR as a refurb. There's your 4 digit. L3A6497 is the serial number.
Warranty lookup:

Looks like the original warranty lapsed in May, but they'll add a year to it.
Parts lookup:

Looks like its screen is FRU 44C9614 which doesn't have any associated information on Thinkwiki. -
Oh, well the laptops I was looking at didn't list the serial then...
But I understand now if it lists it. -
Thanks. I think the best way I guess is to call or email.
Is there a way to discern between LED and CCFL on the Lenovo Outlet?
