I refuse to believe that RapidCharge does not accelerate wear, reducing battery capacity and power cycles faster than if charging without this tech. Is there a way turn it off?

Do you have a rapidcharge machine? Are you looking at wear levels with HWiNFO64 or some other tool? Just wondering about the basis of your comment.

A screenshot and more information wold be helpful.

I have an X230 with rapidcharge ...... after 231 cycles no wear ( I use batterybar and yes it fluxuates up and down a tiny bit )...... and my bat life is normally within 5% of the day I first got it so no to me its not exactly a Lenovo hoax

Why don't all manufacturers use this technology? There must be a catch. Generally, charging faster causes more heat, which in turn accelerates wear.

Has Lenovo detailed anywhere how RC works? Is it really a new technology, or just a new name for sacrificing long term battery endurance for faster charging?

Yes, there is one: It is more expansive, and AFAIK you have to use Li-Polymer batteries, which are expensive too.

    I don't think the X230 6-cell and 9-cell batteries are lithium-polymer, so I don't think that's a requirement for RapidCharge either.

The X230 hasn´t Rapidcharge as far as I know. Are you sure?

Only the X230 Tablet has Rapidcharge with a special 4-cell battery.
