I'm already kind of tired with Vista (I've only had it for two days), and I've always wanted to try out Linux. I went on to Lenovo's site and there are like two Linux drivers for the T61p. I'd be interested in how to put some Linux distro (Probably Ubuntu) onto my laptop and having everything work. This will probably be in addition to XP Pro that I plan on installing soon.

The main Ubuntu site has pretty much everything you need. Just you would need to go on Thinkwiki for any specialized thinkpad features.

I think there are some things like the WLAN and Intel GPU that don't have drivers right out of the box. Feisty runs fine on my R60. I only had to install the 915 drivers to get SXGA+ resolution. Then whatever apps I wanted.

Battery life will probably be worse under Linux since you won't be able to clock down the CPU as much as Power Manager does.

The CPU runs at 1GHz by default on my R60 in Ubuntu.

Maybe I'll just wait a month..thats when Gutsy Gibbon is expected to come out.
Is there any Linux clean install guide?
