    Is there any reason for me to update my BIOS?

    I have a T400 runing BIOS version 3.01. I think the current version is 3.24 or something close.

    I will be installing an SSD for my first time later this week and was wondering if updating the BIOS would be beneficial.

    That said it may be worth reading the BIOS change logs to see if they add any reasonable enhancements or fixes which you may find relevant in the long term and make your mind up from there.
