Until recently they were selling them dirt cheap in the Lenovo Outlet. I picked up a six-cell for my R60 for $36 plus tax. They had the nine-cell for $48. Mine had 0 cycles and full charge capacity. You may wish to keep an eye out there. I picked up a nine-cell on PriceGrabber last year for around $90. The problem is the really cheap ones are knock-offs, which you don't want and it's hard to tell where the line is. Post over the Marketplace forum on ThinkPads.com. Maybe someone over there has a battery on the cheap.

Ebay is great. I caught one at ecost for cheap, but that was a closeout for t61's. Newegg is slightly cheaper than lenovo.

I'd say if they're supposedly new and under $80, they're most likely a knock off. I'd look in the Marketplace forum on ThinkPads.com. I think that you're best shot at getting a genuine battery on the cheap.

You wouldn't want one to explode on you! As you sometimes hear stories of knockoff mobile phone batteries exploding while charging or in-use. But then again even genuine batteries can explode, case in point: SONY.

I'm selling my 7-cell that only has about 4 charge cycles on it. It is like BRAND-NEW and includes everything such as it's box, it's packaging, manuals, warranty. The cosmetic of it looks brand new as well. I am asking for it $55.

The reason I am selling it is because I decided to stick with my original 4 Cell for now.

They come with the 6-cell's. Personally, I do not like the 9 cell on the 14-inch. I find it to be to big and ugly looking (I sold mine on eBay). The 7 cell is the best for a mixture of battery life and appearance although the price is more expensive then the 9 cell.

If you really need the battery life then I would go with a 7-cell and an ultrabay battery. I just don't find the 9-cell to be practical. I would like it much better if it lifted the laptop up like HP laptops.

If you don't mind, PM me or post the link for the eBay auction you are bidding on. I am good at determining whether or not it is truly genuine and if the seller is reputable.

the 7 cell costs more than the 9 cell? i remember the 9 cell being $20-30 more expensive, oh well... and im pretty sure the 9 cell isn't too ugly on a 15" is it?

14 inch and 15 inch have different batteries so mine won't be compatible. Also, yes the 9 cell does not look bad on the T61.
