To the many Lenovo veterans out there...

I've been patiently watching the x201 tablet delays. The tablet is now back on the website, but I notice that the pricing on Lenovo's actual site differs from other sites (like CDW for example) by several hundred dollars.

Does nobody buy from Lenovo direct? I've never had a Thinkpad so I'm clueless.

Lenovo frequently releases coupons ranging from 10-20% off or more - the prices really fluctuate. I bought mine direct from Lenovo when they had a nice coupon for the T500 over a year ago.

AFAIK you'll find the best deals if you buy from Lenovo directly. Either through their official site or the EPP site.

While this is generally true, the tablets seem to follow a different pricing strategy. The x200T was substantially cheaper via resellers (e.g. ProVantage, CDW) than direct from Lenovo (even with coupons) for several months after its release. This is especially true if you also want the UltraBase.

I advise that you download the Tabook. Find 'Topseller' model(s) that suit your needs. Google the numbers to see who has it in stock. Compare the price with direct from Lenovo. Order from whoever is cheapest.

Not really, if you take account tax rate.

What do you mean by this? I believe most of the resellers won't collect sales tax as long as they aren't located in your own state. Whether your own state believes you should still pay the tax is another matter though.

Can you get more than 30% OFF of the official price on Lenovo site through a reseller? ;)
I mean in the last 3 months those ecoupons made me pull the trigger once (W510 for 1290CAD) and almost did it the second time (W701 for 2150 CAD). With such prices I'd always buy from Lenovo directly (if hadn't moved to metal notebooks)

    Another question:

If I buy Lenovo Thinkplus warranty from a 3rd party retailer, am I legit if Im not a small business.

The following language in the Tabook pdf I downloaded concerns me:

"ThinkPlus Services: These services are available for machines normally used for business, professional, or trade purposes, rather than personal, family, or household purposes. Not all machine types and models are covered."
