I see; that's almost a year away. I bought a similarily configured computer back in August for about $1,150. T7300 w/ 140M.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it buying that used notebook. You can find eCoupons that would give you better specs with the same cost as that used notebook plus it'll be brand new.

 

Can someone check these specs to see if this is a good deal for a general overall user like myself. We mostly do letters, print invitations, E-mails, ordering over the internet, make home DVDs, watch DVDs, home photos--no gaming or anything. Thanks!

I don't think the deals you're posting are that fantastic. You can go on lenovo.com and configure a brand new, better spec'ed laptop for not too much more.

Have you tried using the various eCoupons and CPP deals? If you use CPP, they currently have an eCoupon that will get you an additional 5% off an R61. The T61 would be slightly thinner and cost slightly more, although some of the cost is offset by the fact that T-series currently get free DVD Recordable upgrades.

Graphics Card: You have a choice between integrated (less powerful, takes up less battery) and discrete (more powerful, takes up more battery, costs somewhat more). If you're going to be putting together home movies, you may want the discrete graphics card. However, I'm not sure. The integrated graphics might be enough, though someone else will have to weigh in on that.

CPU: I generally recommend going for the T8300. It's 300Mhz faster than the T8100 and only costs ~$38 more.

HDD: 160GB 7200rpm or 5400rpm.

Screen: A matter of personal opinion but: for 14.1" WXGA+. For 15.4" WSXGA+

Network/Wireless card: May want to go with AGN as 802.11n.
