    Hi guys,

I bought a T61p in late August 2008, and I love it...but I do have one annoyance with it.

Anytime the laptop is even SLIGHTLY bumped, any video file that I am watching (that has been saved to the harddrive) skips.
For example, If I'm watching Entourage with the laptop on my lap, any time I slightly move, the file skips. Or even if I have my laptop on my bed and sit down to hard and the bed bounces (not even that much) the video file will again skip!

Is this normal for T61? Or laptops in general? I ask this because my old crappy Gateway laptop does not have this problem even when I shake it around much more then my T61.

If this isn't normal, I'm hoping this is something that can be covered under warrenty (since it's still under a year since I bought the laptop?)

    Thanks for the help guys!

Its normal. Its active system protection "protecting" the hard drive. Just temporarily disable it for the duration of the movie. Solved the problem for me!

    Another option:

Transfer your video to an SD card or USB drive. This uses less power and is immune from the APS.

I think there is a way to adjust the sensitivity of the hard drive active protetion system, but I'm not sure exactly how since I do not own a Thinkpad - other laptops can easily be adjusted, so I'm sure the option can be found somewhere. Your APS is probably overly-sensitive.

Yeah adjust the sensitivity. Click on the active protection icon in your taskbar and adjust it so it takes more than a slight movement to park the head of the hard drive.
