Hi, I'm thinking of purchasing a T60 thinkpad and came across this one from Costco:

Does this one look any good? I'm mainly using it for work.. word processing, powerpoint, excel, maybe some adobe photoshop. and some gaming (guild wars). I don't know much about laptop specs but is this video card (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950) decent enough for some gaming? no fps.

If your playing games and photo intensive apps I would get a dedicated video card. While IBM does make the best laptops, they also make expensive ones as well. You can get alot more for your money with another brand. I would look at the Dell E1505. You can get it with dedicated graphics and everything else upgraded from the IBM for a few hundred less.

Well I'm specifically looking for a lenovo thinkpad.. it seems more compact/ portable, lighter than some other laptops i've seen. And for the price, is it really a bad deal? I always figured that Costco would have good deals on everything.

The T60 is available with the x1400 a much more gaming friendly card. The R60 has this option as well if you want to spend a little less.

Hi Zaz, thanks for the reply, well my budget is around 1100-ish and its a plus if I get it from costco.. but is the T60 from costco really not ideal for playing games? Better yet, can the x1400 video card be bought seperately and installed into the T60?

FYI, that's an OK price. If you're a student, you can get the same one for only $10 more through Lenovo.
The student models come with a very good warranty in general, I think. I don't see anything about the warranty on th Costco one. I would double-check that.

guild wars only requires ati 9000 of 64mb the gma 950 should be able to handle it. The gma 950 is not ideal recommendation for games, as it can run well for present or past games but may have trouble in the future ones.

Did u try T60 available at CompUsa? Its seems much similar as Costco. You can visit and see the product if you want:

You can get the R60 with the x1400 in the $1100 range from Lenovo. While the R60 is not as slim as the T60 and lacks the mag-alloy lid, it is still a very solid PC especially compared to the consumer notebooks you'll find for the same price. Lenovo does offer a 21 day return policy which obviously is not as good as Costco. I have been very happy with mine.
Is this T60 any good?
