This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Are you sure this X220 configuration comes with the UltraBase? If you look at the box contents, the UltraBase is not listed. The X220 doesn't have a built-in optical drive; it's added with the docking UltraBase. Personally, I would say you're better off with a cheap $20 external ODD.

    According to the tabook, it does have Ultrabase with DVDRW.

    It seems like an OK deal if you want the ultrabase, though I think MS is quite correct that an external drive is much cheaper unless you want the ultrabase.

    Unless they've added new models since I last looked at tabook, there are no good deals on pre-configured X220's (non-tablet). If I was in the market for one today I'd check the Outlet. There are some amazing prices there from time to time.
