Can this harm my T61 in anyway? It will only help it a bit right?

Why do you even want one???

ThinkPads tend to run very cool on their own fans, and a cooling pad is unnecessary.

It wont harm it, but you wont see any spectacular results with that either.

The Enermax Aeolus CP001 or NZXT Cryo are good choices. ;)

I really don't think cooling pads are necessary for T61 since it's already got one of the best cooling solutions under the hood. For example, mine never heats up higher than 58'C even under full CPU usage and it's in a very comfortable range to put it on the lap.

That is quite true that think pads have great cooling overall.

AHLs recommendations may be an option but I would not jump on them. As your vents are quite scattered and small it would be best to know where it heats up exactly. Which part of the notebook feels warm on the bottom and are there any specific components that you have in mind for being hot? :)
