So I just ordered a Thinkpad T400 for $636.65. It's the basic configuration that's on the main page for special offers. The computer originally goes for $1111.00 but then was discounted to $749.00 and then I got the 15% off on top of that. Here's the configuration:

    System components
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2) 25W
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
14.1 WXGA TFT, w/ LED Backlight
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with vPro
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)
Express Card Slot & PC Card Slot
Intel WiFi Link 5100 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology
    Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable
    4 cell Li-Ion Battery

ANy thoughts? thanks guys! and the deal runs until the end of today if you want one!

i suggest you dont go for this.
    R400 or R500 is better.

if you want T series why not choose a dedicated graphic card ?
if you only want for business use and not gaming. R series is good enough.

the difference is like $25...so the t series has a better video card right? isn't that the better deal since it was originally for $1111, and the R was for $956 with similar basic components

the default video card is the same on both T and R series .
but for T series you can get a dedicated graphic card.

The only reason Id say stay with the t series is for the slightly thinner chassis. But then again I doubt its all that much. I did look at the site and saw that a r400 configured similar to your t400 and it was actually $671 so I think you got a great deal.
