I would check out ThinkPads.com, you may get a better price. Plus no sales tax unless you are in Florida. Good Luck.

Why are you getting a FireGL chipset in the laptop?

Unless you plan to run Autocad, 3dsmax, maya, XSI or some other CAD based OpenGL app, then you're wasting your money.

You didn't share the specific T43 model number. It'd help to evaluate price and value.

My tip for getting a good price on a IBM Thinkpad is to buy it directly from IBM using their Visa discout website. Often it'll discount 10%, or more, off IBM's regular Web Price.
    http://www.ibm.com/businesscenter/visa

The IBM education web site http://www.ibm.com/education/us has a very large selection of available models--many more than the Visa site. It's for educators, students and alumni. Good discounts if you're one of the above. If you find a model there, not offered on the Visa site, call the Visa discount phone number and ask them to match the model and price of the edu. site.

IBM employees, and their friends [ :)], get the best discounts.
