Compared to pricing on lenovo.com, this seems like a great deal. And seller seems to be a Lenovo reseller with superb feedback.

Is there anything to be aware of? The price is so much cheaper than lenovo.com, I almost have to be skeptical.

    Thanks!

I got mine for 1400-ish with 3 year warranty. Although I had to ditched the SSD. You also have 8 GB of ram which is very impressive. Price seems about right, but you do know you have an i3 not an i5.

Any other thoughts? Do you think I should go for it, or hold out for a better deal?

I'm not sure, you might want to post in the hardware section as I am not very knowledgeable on CPU. I don't know how good and i5 is compared to an i3, I just know it's better.

CPU <-- not sure if you can upgrade to i5 later, something about sockets? You might not even need to. Again I'm CPU illiterate.

SSD <-- $200-300 upgrade. I heard intel is to release a 1.8" x-18 g3 so price could still drop like half. That's why I got the standard super slow non-ssd to upgrade later.

8GB Ram <-- about $200-300 upgrade as well. Most people will never exceed 4GB though. You might save money here. I personally am completely fine with 3GB, but I do used Linux most of the time.

The SSD and 8GB of ram are pretty nice, but I chose to wait until I could get a better deal down the road. I also don't need that much ram.

The hardware section people are a lot more knowledgeable, all they do is hardware.

Personally here's what I did. I wanted to feel safe about my machine so I really wanted 3-year warranty. Ram wasn't an issue as I realized I never exceeded 3. Since Lenovo offered 3GB no problem. The SSD, I really wanted but it would have made me exceed my budget. So I waited besides SSD are going to be really cheap next year. You might want to research the intel x-18 g3.

I realized I might have repeated or reworded the same stuff over. That is for emphasis.

    Good Luck.

Really? It's been a long since I've looked at Ram :D

i think Lenovo was offering these machines for like 899 dollars during the clearance sale in its outlet couple of months back. (but only 2 gigs of ram and no ssd).

The price of this machine is okay, it is neither very cheap or too expensive, so it is right in the middle of the value for money band.

I think that's a good price as i bought my T410si (Core i3) recently too on eBay, at that time ones with SSDs were $1400. Mine was $850 because it had a little "skuff" on the lid which turned out to be dust (troll face :D )

    Lenovo Thinkpad T410s
    CPU - Intel Core i3 330M - 2.13GHz
    RAM - 2GB DDR3 - 1066mhz
    LCD - LG LED 14.1" WXGA+ - 1440x900
    HDD - Toshiba 250GB 1.8" - 5400RPM
    OS - Windows 7 Professional x32

That's what i got for that price so i'd say that's an excellent price. You are basically getting my machine for $650! I have 3yr warranty however so that was a plus to me. I got it basically brand new, only 2 cycles on the battery then and warranty shows starting in August and i got it in September. :)

As for the Core I3, i chose that version specifically because i'm not doing any gaming or any video encoding on here. I did do some basic ones with Windows Live Movie Maker for my friend and it did it in enough time for it to not be a big deal. I use office apps and other less intensive stuff so i dind't need the I5. I had a T410 with a Core i5 as well as that thing was a beast! (Read super fast - HDD plus CPU made the difference i'm sure).

If you're inclined to upgrade the warranty, I'd ask if it's refurbed.

Which LG screen (something like Everest will tell you this) do you have and what's the part number (can be looked up based on your model and serial number). Afaik, T410s' only came with TMD and Samsung screens (mostly Samsung).
