    That's really hot. The price for this spec is at least over $2500.
    Let me know where you can get this monster.

    You can get this deal on the IBM website under the educational section ($750 off ad). Any other opinions on this deal?

    It looks like the offer is not for everyone though... I am not sure but the offer are just for schools, local govt, and if employess of these insitutions, a different discount applies.

    I actually bought the 266872U last week and it arrived in 3 working days.

    The price was $1949 + tax (free s/h from HK!).

    They will not give you a free 512MB memory stick, however, as that would be combining promotional offers.

    My question is how do I find good third party RAM? I tried looking for PC2-4200 533 RAM and get all sorts of prices at Newegg... Not sure which are/n't compatible.

    Also, I ran Super Pi a couple of times and got the same 1m 45s as abaxter did with his 1.86GHz CPU. Why would that be?

    g.p, how thick is it? 1.2'' or 1.4''? Also what do you think of the overall size? What's "HK!"? Overall impressions?

    Thanks,

    I don't have a ruler, but it's as thick as a half-dollar is tall. But really, would .2" make or break a deal? C'mon...

    I'm not sure how to answer your question about overall size... It's more portable than my Omnibook 6000 was, but you can't spin it on your finger like you can my girlfriend's Toshiba M100.

    HK = Honk Kong

    It's a fine machine, but keep in mind I'm upgrading from an HP PIII 700. What I like best? High Res screen and keyboard. I'm actually typing faster and more accurately than before. I got the IBM after considering Asus and other brands, but in the end I bought the T43 because I wanted something reliable. This is why I sprung for the 3 yr Thinkpad Protection (and my Visa adds an additional year of equivalent coverage for free).

    I also thought of getting the cheaper T43 that is also on sale ($14XX). In all honesty I wanted something in between the two (e.g., didn't need DVD burner, wanted a 1GIG stick), but the T43s are not configurable yet and I needed a machine sooner rather than later.

    Finally, I passed on the 9 cell battery because I didn't see myself using the machine for more than 3.5 hours at a time often enough over the next 18 months.

    Hope that helps
