It's probably compatible but it's not a ganuine Lenovo battery and has an unusually low capacity (20Whr - whereas Lenovo batteries are > 30Whr).

Thanks John! Do you mind providing me some keywords where I can find the genuine Lenovo batteries cheap on ebay?

^^^go to lenovo website, under "accessories". Enter your model (t410s) and it'll show up the name of your batteries.

Usually the word "genuine" is enough. "Original" is another possible keyword.

I never buy batteries from 3rd party. Lower capacity of knock-off batteries is just one thing; the other - most importantly - is the risk factor: explosion is not a joke.

I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work but can't be 100% sure without trying. I know that the UltraBay II battery works in the T420s. Would the seller allow you to return it if it proves to be incompatible?

I'm not sure about that. I've read a review on amazon on the same battery saying that it's from an older generation and after a few chargers the capacity decreases dramatically. Do you think that's true John?

You could check the Personal System Reference Sheets: Personal Systems Reference (PSREF) sheets

Don't know about the battery per se, but I do know that the T420/410/510/520 uses a Serial UltraBay rather than the older UltraBay type. My T510 won't take my older T61 UltraBay accessories (it will take T420/410 UltraBays). It may be different with batteries, but maybe this info might help.

At the moment my UltraBay battery II is holding it's charge OK but it's still on less than 10 charge cycles.

However, it is plausible batteries that are several years old but unused may have lost lost some capacity in storage.

I have asked the seller and he said that it was not compatible with the T410s/ T420s. Too bad..

I suspect the seller is just basing that on the spec sheet, and it would likely work just fine with the T410s / T420s, it should be noted though that this battery has an IBM logo making pre 2006 when Lenovo bought the Thinkpad division from IBM. As to the loss in capacity I think you will see some of that on any older battery just from age, even if it was still new in the box.
