I've been researching the T400 and its competition for a little while now, and I came across this review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8sOO-8LP4E
In general, the comments concerning the build quality of the T400 were overwhelmingly positive, but this guy seems to bash on it -- T400 owners, what do you think? This guy says that the plastic on the front is weak, among other things. I've never had the opportunity to see a Thinkpad in person before I buy it, which is why I'm all of a sudden concerned. Is this guy justified in what he says?

Do you worry that your skin isn't rock hard? No, because most of the support comes from your internal skeleton. That's largely how the current Thinkpads are designed. so a little external flex really is meaningless.
Second. having an optical drive, battery, or hard-drive caddy in the ultrabay is normal. Take it out and you WILL be able to flex the plastic skin around that area. Put it in and it's no big deal.
Verdict -- don't worry about it unless you pound on your laptop like a graceless 600lb gorilla -
Most of the flex issues have since been addressed by Lenovo.

Yea, that video has been posted since nov of last year......I just got my t400 yesterday and theres minimal flex in the keyboard and palm rest.
-
My T400 (which arrived this week) has no flex issues; in fact, it's quite solid.
-
T400 has since than upgraded and addressed that issue.
-
Thanks everyone for the input. I just ordered a T400 yesterday!
