    Hey guys..
    Just received my new T61.

I am running on just 1 GB RAM right now which I plan to upgrade soon..just waiting on a good 2 GB stick deal.

Vista Home basic is running quite slow and I expected that. But then I looked at my memory usage and it took me by surprise. Just wondering if that is normal for anyone running 1gig of RAM.

Thanks for the help! and this is my first post..looking forward to hundreds more!

I have Home Premium and my RAM usage is 550-600 on idle, but I've disabled many VISTA services. And also remember to install all the hotfixes for VISTA

Hotfixes? How do I get them? Is that the regular windows update?

My computer was on idle when I took that screenshot.

Vista fills available RAM with cached data that you may use, this is called SuperFetch. Even when you go up to 2GB of RAM the Free memory is likely to be really low.

Vista uses unused RAM/CPU cycles for stuff.
